It is nice to see them getting to where they are going. I am glad that you like them. Without Eric's work on this, it would have likely been me and a video camera in the garage (cheaper and crappy
).
Where do I send payment for this awesome DVD???

I've watched it end-to-end twice, each time all the way through in one sitting. Best damned cinema I've seen in a long time.

Heck, you are in the credits at the end as well. I considered giving you character credit as "Igor" but I figured it was not needed.
Thanks for your help on the day of the primary shoot.
BTW, I also gave you credit for the Intestinal gurgling!

Hey, my weekend entertainment is now assured. Providing the warden allows me some tube time. It is diff pulling time this weekend.
Did I mention that I found a second broken mainshaft? This was more of a clean break with everything still in place.

Wow, where did it break? Between the 23 and 45 gear sets, next to the intermediate plate or on the R1 side?
davep
Jul 17 2010, 01:19 PM
Right next to second gear. The rest of the shaft was still in the bearing this time probably because the break was very flat. The other one was a spiral break which pushed the broken piece through the bearing to rattle around in the tailcover. See this post:

I am always amazed when a shaft breaks on these trans, not because the trans fails, but because the way that metal fatigue and such can work and the materials science.
Could you post picture of the actual two pieces and the break?

It arrived on Friday, saw it after I got home from work, just as I was rollin'n out the door to the lake. Now Sunday night, I will be watching as soon as I unpack and wash a few layers of stink off. Thanks for all the hard work and the information that would normally take at least the fourth rebuild to find out what I did wrong!

For the first time in 59 years, I finally understand how a transmission works!
Every time I up shift or downshift, I can see those little bands, slipping and sliding to spin a gear up to speed. All of the stess and strain on those little expensive parts.
All the time pushing those little $200 bearings to overspin on a hard downshift.
Feeling how expensive it is on every shift when nicking another gear and thinking about how the pointy house tops inside the spinner thingey part starts chipping and wearing down to become a flat top California ranch house.
Is it just me or should we all just stay in first gear and drive around the block?
(Seriously, Dr. It's a great tool.)

Mike, ...received the video yesterday and watched both DVDs non-stop...
Dr. Evil did a fine job of making the transaxle simple. I sat obsorbing the information and feel no longer intimidated by the thought of tear-down,
inspection and refurbishment...I am enlightened !
thank you,

Ha! So, Maybe I could re-shoot the whole shebang in HD, and do 3 cameras so the audience could choose a camera angle for each part... as well?
LOL, that would probably be better than 3-d.

Do you mean more girls or more OF the girl(s)?
Seriously, I decided to go with just one woman and to do it tastefully as I think the audience is pretty broad (no pun intended) and some of Mike's comments were possibly offensive enough
to the sensitive.
If I do another (do you know of a need?), I'll have an entire easter egg for those who want to see Girls! BTW, no one has mentioned that they found the one easter egg yet on this DVD set. It isn't girls, so stop drooling, but it is neat 914 content.

On DVDs you can hide content without an obvious menu title.
I put a small Easter egg on the second DVD with 914 content.
Nothing special, but it adds to the fun.
Do you want me to email you how to find it?

Forget the Easter egg! Let’s focus more on the topic about „more of“ and “off of more”.

Damn, you are not the only one who seems to want this DVD to be a thinly disguised Porno, with a little transmission content.
Not that I wouldn't like it as well...

Maybe one of the owners with "junk in the trunk"
could possibly donate a transmission for the video?
I need to think long about undertaking another huge project like this, although I have learned much doing this one, and things I never expected that I'd need to know.

Ya, if I do one on the 915 I will need a donor/lender box and for someone to pay for all the parts as I have no use for a 915 so I have no special tools/parts/boxes in my pile.
