I hope you all get great amusement out of the fact that I'll be taking my wife's Jeep again, just like the RT66. I can't tell you how much this pains me. I've been working night and day on the new V8 car to make it worthy, and it's just not going to happen in time. I really could cry..... wait ..... wait..... ok, I'm fine.
My wife would normally give me a very hard time about it given the fact that I bought the car just for the RRC, but, she knows how hard I've been working on it. Like so many times before, I took the damn thing apart and I ain't gonna get humpty back together in time. I could cut some corners and make it, but I'd rather walk than do it half assed. Taking the Jeep is one step above walking. A very very small step.

Thanks Joe, I wouldn't miss it for the world. I thought about hauling up an empty car trailer should anyone need assistance, but parking was pretty tight last year, and my trailer would probably get stolen if I left it unattended to go out for the day. At least that would give me an excuse to take my truck.

Hey Steve! I'll be glad to party with you again..........with or w/o your 914.
Slits was in your situation. Every weekend, 14 hours a day for 3 months and still wasn't able to get The Brown Turd running.
See ya in 24hrs!

The insult to the injury is that I could have had the six ready to go in about two days, but I spent two weeks sorting out the V8 car, and some things take longer than others. The up side is that it's going to be great when it's finished next week.
I just sold the tail dragger, and it's still here, but it's paid for
but I got the $
It will still be a great time and the jeep will blend in nice up at Moab. I think we'll be meeting up Friday morning. It's one less night my mother in law has to come take care of "on site security" (dogs). I seriously thought about buying another 914 at the last minute, but I already have way too many.

Nope. Utah isn't dry, just controlled. You can drink anything you want, but you can only buy through state liquor stores and the beer is 3.2 or something like that. I bring my own along so I can't say from experience just what they sell.

I'm heading out early as well. I hate to admit it, but Greg turned out to be right. All the Cool people
are leving on Thursday.
Mike, I won't try to coordinate meeting up w/ you since I've got last minute
to deal with. But if you see a "civilian" waving at you on the road, don't shoot.
See you soon.

As for 3.2% beer, forgetaboutit.
Liz's passenger is a keg of Steam and Nelson's (968) passenger is a keg of Red Rye. There are no restrictions on alchohol content in NM.

I am sad to say that my new 914 will not make it to Moab. Due to severe weather conditions in Vail pass, as noted, Greg's car is going on the trailer and my car gets to rest safely in Ferg's garage. Yet, there are still fun times to be had by all! No car, no BAC to worry about...

Sorry Lauren. It's not worth risking someone else's car. 914's aren't that great in slick icy conditions.
I'm leaving mine at home too.

Howard is now guilty of a felony for transporting a minor across state lines.
He and Lisa are still ahead of the pack and have crossed into Nevada. The rest are in the draft. Toast has broke down in Yermo. (I've been there. It's as glamorous as it sounds.) She is being towed to Keith's (WRX) house. LvSteveH is standing by to
scavenge parts assist with repairs.

Just got home from church council meeting. There are two 914s in the motel parking lot near church and they called the house to say they were in town so the caravan from Flagstaff will be on its way in about 7.5 hours. Drive safe - see you there!

Toast is back on the road..... for the time being. She said it is running better than it has been, so that's good. Unfortunately the shop at Keith's work is now a superfund environmental site due to severe oil leakage. Toast actually has her mom dumping oil in a funnel coming through the firewall while they drive (I kid, I kid). The good news is that Toast saved $15 bucks in gas while on the tow truck.
Drive safe everyone.
