More Goodies - Since I have 2 Hi-End Motors, a 2.8 Twin-Plug and a 2.7 RS, I need to be able to store the second motor that is not in the car.

Good Gosh Almighty. What a beautiful bunch of parts. Can't wait to see the car complete! Let us know how to get on the 914 Stimulus Plan so we can afford those -6 parts, too. lol-2.gif Bill

I had a bunch of those Plastic A-Arm bushings sitting around - everybody knows they sqeek. Brian (bcheney) talked me into buying Rubber Bushings, then after reading a few threads about how they deform, I decide to buy some Elephant Racing Poly-Graphite bushings.

4 Bearing Cam Towers

Was that a difficult mod? IIRC the 4-bearing towers appeared either with or right after problems with the 2,8RSR - and since that's my target, it's what I think I've gotta do too - especially to use any of the 'modern' (e.g. GEnn) cams...

No Mark, that is a 914-6 GT Cooler, also used in 910's. The other cooler above it is a RX-7 Cooler, they are almost the same size.

I don't have any other pictures of this Cooler handy, but here are some pictures of another GT Cooler that I sold a few years ago for $2,400.

Not a difficult mod at all, and like you said, better to use with a more modern cams.

I bought 2 sets (one set for my 2.7 & one set for my 2.8) of 4 bearing cam towers off Pelican Classifieds fairly inexpensive.

1st of all, What is the customary period of time that someone is allowed to stare and drool at a motor before a cover should be put on said motor?

My 993 Oil Console. This fits in place of the Oil Cooler on the motor, since I will be running a front cooler. This came Directly from Germany. These used to be 1/4 the Cost mad.gif

Thanks for the pics of the cooler....guess I'll get this RX-7 cooler welded up:)
rfuerst911sc
TC that is one fine looking motor, I would say you can stare at it for at least a week straight ! biggrin.gif
I may be wrong but doesn't the RX7 oil cooler have a thermostat built in that has to be removed ? I thought I read that somewhere ? Other than that it is a good cooler.

Hey T.C.

It is looking good! What kind of media did they blast it with and what kind of
primer and paint are you planning to use?

Thanks,

TC,

I just posted a question on another thread, then realized you may be able to answer my question. If those are AA flares, would you kindly measure the rear flare from the inside wheel well panel to the inside lip of the flare at the center. I basically need to know if my existing wheel/tire will fit.

Thanks a bunch!

Dumb question perhaps, but what does a billet intermediate plate do besides add bling to your tranny?

It's young and tight......

And the shift rod, er rods don't wallow around as much.

And it's a ring and pinion adjust.

TC,

That combo gauge is fantastic - do you happen to know if the kits to build it are still available?

Great thread - thanks for sharing all of the hard work.

Keep it up.

Mike, Thanks for the compliments.

These gauges were just rebuilt by Mark at Vintage ( he's in the Vendor section), the 250klm Speedo I bought on eBay for $20, The 10,000rpm Tach is a rebuilt 930 and the Combo gauge is custom. I had the faceplate (and backplate) for the Triple in my stash ( confused24.gif ) from years ago. I sent Mark the plates, a 911 Temp/Press gauge and a 914 Gas Gauge. I know Vintage makes a Quad gauge.
I just like the look of the Triple.
