The Yellow car was picked up later in the afternoon after the picture was taken

Heartbreaking, I really wanted it too. I might end up buying the wrecked '71 back from the insurance company. If you hear of any good flared rollers similar to the yellow car, please let me know!

Quite the fleet of flared 914's!

I see your build thread and it motivates me to finish mine. I gotta get back on the ball. Even though life has just been crazy busy, I must finish it.

It's just a daunting undertaking...

I like your meticulous work and attention to detail. I look forward to more pictures... first.gif

What a really enjoyable hour or so I've had reading through this thread. Thanks TC! Car's looking great - I can't believe how much rust there was and how it's looking now beerchug.gif

How's it coming on?
carr914
Rod, not a lot of progress lately - It's Brutal Hot here in the Summer ( I'm getting A/C for the garage before next summer). Plus I was putting in long hours at my last job, (I left that job last month and just got a MUCH better one yesterday). I've been working on the Blue Steel-Top ( good practice for the GT biggrin.gif ) which I should have done in a few weeks.

Then I will really get cranking on the GT ( you can see I have 99% of the Parts)
MDG
Congrats on the cars AND the new job. Can't wait to see more of that Signal Orange beauty.
Rod
Cheers for the reply TC and yes, congratulations on the new job!!

As a matter of fact, yes. I have a legitimate offer that I'm thinking about - the car would be staying in the United States, just a long, long way from me.
carr914
Sale Pending

I'm both Sad (that it is going) & Relieved ( I just lost interest - 3 1/2 Years at a Body Shop does that to me, same thing as my Carrera RS)
stuttgart46
So now what? You know that you'll have some sort of project within a month.
carr914
Got the Deposit Check - the Sale is going to Happen - it's staying in the US (kinda)

Not sure of Full GT Upgrades? It had most everything
X-Top is Cool
He didn't want my Cage (V-Brace)
Needed Belt attachments - it came with REPA Belts
Came with A-Pillar pieces
Came with the Mechanical Headlight raiser - Mikey & I bought a few from Mittle before the Group Buy
the Car ( like most -6s, didn't have Sway Bars & I was going to do something different)
I didn't have the nerve to cut the access hole ( even though I've done it a bunch of times)
Relay Board relocating pieces were there
Chassis Tweeks? It had Chassis reinforcement (Factory, Tangerine & Engman), New Bilsteins, Mono-Balls, Spherical Bearings, Big Springs & New bigger Torsion Bars.

Must be putting much bigger wheels & Tires

Straighten out Body Work & Repaint? screwy.gif Oh well, everyone has to make their car their own.

The Buyer seemed like a Cool Guy & had Deep Pockets.
sixnotfour
TC, Remeber GT's are kinda a crap shoot, some had it all most didnt, just reporting whats been welded onto a freshly painted tub, I forgot they beefed up the motor mount too.

Tweeks, I meant it needed some mechanical force to square it up.

Tires and wheels will be here soon , I was told by the body shop.

Ill take some pics next time.
stuttgart46
If he's going the race car route and taking the car to Hawaii how is that going to work out? Do they have a track out there or is the car going to be staying on the west coast?
carr914
Chad, while the new Owner lives in Hawaii ( & not on the Big Island), it was my understanding that he was going to keep the car in California with some of his other cars.
Cairo94507
Amazing; that car was very very nice as it was. Looking forward to seeing the pictures of the changes.

I'm new to this site. I thinking of purchasing a 71 looks stock from a private
dealership. Looks like a bottle of nos between the seats. I read one comment that the 1971 914 is nothing more than a VW that robs the Porsche name only! Not good news. However I love the looks of the car. I like to drop a 6 cylinder in her (Porsche only) but I don't know which motor would be good without major modification in drive-train? What do you recommend? Who do you recommend as far as where to buy such a motor?
