No progress because I attended a local PCA drive with the pinky benders.

Have you never seen the RS? Yes, it's CF (Getty).

For those who think 225s on the back of a 914 are impractical, I submit the next two pictures. There's not much extra room and we are going to shave the lip a little for some additional breathing room. When we put the car back on its feet, we'll have to get the spacers just right. And I do understand that the high negative offset of the 986 wheels is making this possible, but the point is that they do (and will) fit:

I was thinking about this build last night. You have it MADE here. You get to build a teener without having to pay for it. I wish I could do that...

What paint did you use on those trailing arms? Do they still have the rubber bushings or what are you using. They don't look boxed, you just cleaned them up and repainted?
They look great.

Rustoleum black satin. Simple spray paint. Rubber bushings. Not boxed.
We're trying to get this finished for less than $18k.

Budget update.
For those interested in the cost of the TurtleGirl build, I have this update. Today, I made a reasonably comprehensive list of the parts and labor to complete the build. We have successfully purchased many of the parts needed for the six conversion, but the engine has yet to be sourced. These prices assume a 2.4E MFI engine as a minimum and a 3.0CIS engine as a maximum.
Our target is $18k.
$4000 spent so far (includes everything)
$11,800 remains
$2000 contingency
$17,800 total as of today.
