OK here goes!!!

"Erika" (she now has a name....) is back at Joe's house.

Mike is paid in full, so far. Little bit of remaining work on decks and doors, but the big part is finished. Mike does not get paid for decks and doors until they are delivered. He seems to be pretty motivated with the "carrot" approach, rather than the "big stick" approach. Just ask him to do work right before the house or Harley payment is due, and you get results.

Anyhoo... it seems that he did a great job, and the car (ahem... Erika) is beautiful!!! wub.gif wub.gif

I have 9 pics to follow:

Really nice Liz!

Does joe still think those rear tires aren't gona rub? cool.gif
TurtleGirl
Yup. I've seen them in there. She'll go.

They're not seated properly right now. We rolled the fenders a little to give some more breathing room. I'll take some pics when we've got the car lowered and positioned properly. We've got a little work to do before I can get there, though!

This thread is great! I am new here and my car needs all the treatment you've given to this one. Helps me not to feel so overwhelmed. I have a few questions. In an earlier post you talked about "tar" when you were stripping the interior of the car. What was that? You also covered the bottom of the car with something called SKS, and some undercoat, or are they the same thing? I am not familiar with these products. Your build looks so good, I want to use it as my guideline for doing mine!

Also, there was some "secret formula" for painting the suspension............

Thanks so much for taking the time to document your build for us!

Looks like your paint guy did well for you! Glad to see the car back home and can't wait to see it start coming together. smilie_pokal.gif

Hi and Welcome to the club!!! biggrin.gif

#1 If you'll notice on the floor pan of your car, there is a 1/2 inch thick (or so) pad that is mostly made of tar. It was originally installed as a sound deadening layer, but it's main job now seems to hide rust underneath. It's best, if you're planning a full resto, to assure that all your hard work isn't for naught! pull up that tar pad to make sure that you don't have any rust pockets.

#2 SKS is a spray-on undercoating made by Worth. It's great for protection of the undercarriage, sound deadening, and not having to paint the wheel wells, etc! (easier to keep looking nice than paint!)

#3 (shhhhhh) the secret formula for painting the suspension, etc is ph34r.gif Rustoleum Satin Black spraypaint! ph34r.gif Muuuuuch less expensive than powder coating, easy to touch up, etc...

Again, welcome to the club! You'll find that this forum is a wonderful source of info and hilarity!!!
