One last thing .... I fill up and generally can make Kingman with no stops for gas. I love the idea of saving $.030 to $0.50 per gallon by filling again across the border or in Kingman.

Wills, maybe we (meaning you actually) should plan a
Friday Lunch Itinerary for those arriving midday Friday.
I would do but I am ignorant in the ways, customs and fine dining of the Arizona Natives.

[not looking at shock porn... not looking at shock porn...]
It was too early in the night to pull the gas tank and stink up the place, so I finished grinding the fender roller lug holes and rolled one out. After greasing the tension screw it was real easy and before I knew it I fuched up the pass fender
Now I've got 10 1/2" to fit the 9 1/4" (225 on 7") tires with some flexibility for offset and camber
Good thing Rick's not going to be here

Who sang the song "Too much is not Enough"?! Get bigger tires!
But on a non Porsche related mechanical update, I installed a new t-belt kit in the Impreza and bigger tires on different wheels all in the spirit of upgrading whatever the hell I can. Finally moving around well enough to work on the DD - next, start working again on the teener....

Thanks for pointing that out! I am in need of rolling my right rear fender (yes, the flared fender) to reset the camber less negative. In my case, due to previous damage to the same fender from a garage door collapse, it won't matter if I crack the paint a bit. Eventually, the damaged front part of the flare will be fixed and it will be repainted, but first I'd like to try getting more rubber on the road on that side.

Mount Palomar is an even better climb. I haven't done either in years.
I'm sure there are other excellent runs in the area that I have yet to experience.
Just an idea for something on the West Coast, South of the 10, close enough to qualify as a 'Route 66' event.
Locals can give ideas on where to stay if we choose to play in the area. Maybe even one night on the beach?

Well, I leave tomorrow. I hope. I found an interesting fact about the 914. I pulled the distributor and put it back without plugging in the lower contacts for the FI. Turns out it will sputter on those injector pulses at start up. That made me think I had the timing way off. Wasted about 2 hrs on that one.
The map programs say I have a 25-26 hr drive depending on whether I want flat or flat country followed by running south along the rockies eastern side. I miss mountains here, so I figure on the latter. I have summer tires. Think I need to change?
