Does it need to be NOS? biggrin.gif

Wills,

I threw these in the car for you. You can decide if they are "Wills Worthy".

Cheers!

We're out, sad to say. Doctors orders. Tweaked my back and hip a week or so ago and been grinding through the pain hoping for improvement. Getting better but the MD and the chiropractor say the last thing I need is 1500 miles in the 46-year-old seats of a old sports car. Still hurts enough that the advice makes sense.
Maybe next year...
Cancelled reservations at both hotels. No refund for tonight in Flag so if anyone needs a paid for room PM me.

Sorry to hear it Jim. Keep in mind there is another get together in September right down the road in Ridgway, CO (Red Rocks Classic).

Get well - cheers!

Get well soon. We were never meant to put weight on the back, or get old for that matter. taking it easy sounds like a plan. You could come lying flat in the back of a van, but that don't sound fun.

Is there a liquor store in Flagstaff?

I highly recommend McGaugh's on the corner of Butler and San Francisco. A great selection of premium beers (and owned by friends of mine). It's also just a couple of blocks from the new Dutch Bros. coffee for when you need some caffeine.

Hey Ernie,
We need a recommendation for a Take Out Pizza place on Friday night. confused24.gif

We like Fratelli Pizza they have a location in downtown, right around the corner from Beaver Street Brewery. They also have a take-out only location on 4th Street. It's more of a drive from the hotel, but not too bad. The 4th street location is so busy that they moved the take-out to a separate storefront.

You can use my garage to do the work if needed. I'm 23 miles north of Prescott. Got floor jack, and jack stands, and drive up ramps, and plenty of tools in my tool box. Your more than welcome to use. My phone 714-305-7480.

Nice offer! Warren is getting pretty good at replacing parts in a parking lot but I think he would consider a garage to be heaven. smilie_pokal.gif

Let him know.

You guys are awesome. Ok, I figured it out. Classic hot start problem. Not quite enough juice to solenoid after it goes up to the dash and back. Starts just fine with a small jumper. Passes the Ed test! So all I really need is an automotive type relay- with spade connectors instead of my Porsche relays. And a couple hanks of wire. I am pretty sure I have the crimp on ends and some zip ties.

I made it to Las Vegas- New Mexico. Will look for a flaps here or in Albuquerque. Not Napa thanks anyway. I am gonna try to post some pics after a while tonight. Meanwhile

In the high desert south of the Colorado border.not really desert desert. Scruffy I will be but they let me into the motel here.

Worn....I saw you traveling through Pueblo yesterday, Did you notice the police car that pulled up next to you? I saw your 914 from a distance and had to catch up, The sight of you and your 914 really made my day at work yesterday. Was going to pull you over to chat but didn't want to interrupt what looked like a very enjoyable drive. Love the car. Have a safe trip.

I saw you. As most folks probably will tell you I let sleeping squad cars lie. But it would have been an honor to be pulled over. Everyone would have assumed you had caught another malefactor. I was getting a bit road weary that day, but it was so exciting to see mountains and canyons. Thanks for keeping us safe.

Damn. Cannot find my video of me falling the 75' spruce in the front yard. Landed where I aimed at instead of on the house too. Luckyyyy. The video clearly shows me running the opposite direction. To again quote the pythons "run away!".

Looks great!! For years I had no heater with my six conversion. I would use the fresh air fan full blast on the windshield to keep it from fogging up.. Made the inside pretty cold at times.

Great seeing everyone again and meeting some new people as well! Thanks to John for organizing, Jason for rounding up raffle prizes and all of the vendors that donated! 914 Rubber and PMB in particular!!

Good times! Hope to see everyone in September at Red Rocks! driving.gif

great event..thank you to all that made this happen. Met many really nice 914 people. Saw some great northern AZ scenery. Drove some great twisty highways.. (sigh) on the way home down hwy 89 I was enjoying the curves a bit too much and got tagged for ten miles over posted limit..wtf the tires were not even squealing.. oh well first one in thirty years and I am sure a pothole will be filled from proceeds of my "donation". Ca welcomed me home with stone chip above rear view mirror. Still one of the best weekends I have had in a long time!

I also took 89 South going home. I saw him sitting off to the left. (I'm glad he didn't see me 2 minutes sooner.)
I then took Hwy 96 towards Bagdad. Nice road. Then . . . 97 over to the main highway. OMG what an awesome 12 mile road. driving.gif It easily makes my top 10 list.

It is not all good news. sad.gif My favorite road house café "Eat at Joe's" in Wikieup, is no more.
The new sign says 'BBQ and Blues. Opening Soon.' I will try it next time I am passing thru and let you know.

I wished that I could have been there for the entire 'run', but it just wasn't in the cards this year.

Made it to Moab. Gorgeous. Snow, hail, pouring rain got into the instruments so my oil light suddenly went on at 30 psi. Parked and the tail lights still on. Switch off. Disconnected battery for the night. Stone chip, small. I love the reservation land without a lot of developments. Just small settlements rusting away. Clouds pink underneath from the reflected red rock.
Thanks sponsors.
Thanks everyone so much! Can't express how great it was to meet such a bunch of old farts, old farts in training, and lovely young ladies who patiently rode along. Happy birthday Elliot and Strat.

We stopped in Yarnell to check out a few junk, errrr, antique shops. Then stopped at Fantasy Springs casino in Indio for a bit. Then stopped at Pechanga in Temecula for dinner. Got home about 9 pm.

MANY thanks to you guys for the assistance with my car!!!!! It ran great after the distributorectomy. Worn, I'll follow up with you regarding the part.

We had a blast on the trip!!!

So glad I made the drive for the RT66 event. I had a great time and no matter the weather conditions it was an adventures, & the 914 handled it very well.
John thanks again for all you have done year after year for this event. I won the Dash from 914rubber.com to say I was shocked and humbled is a understatement What a great way to end the night. Thanks 914 Rubber..Will send pix after install..

Don, Mike D & I toke Hwy-A89 south home at 620am WOW that is a great road.
My two friends and I met over the 914 starting about 25 years ago. And we are still traveling together to events like Rt66. I am so lucky to have Don Cameron & Mike D as friends for life, who share the same passion as I for this little car.
Thanks guys for a great trip.

Made it...
at about 9pm last night
936 miles straight in 14 hours
whew...

car was amazing though
and the event was amazing...

the car is an ex race car and thus... lots of holes drilled where the seats used to mount direct to the floor, roll cage mounts, race seatbelt mounts, hardware mounts, fire bottle mounts, accusump mounts... etc... Thus lots of holes drilled everywhere that are open

both trunks and the entire interior compartment were full of standing water from snow pushed up through the open holes everywhere... tonight I will have to shop vac everything...

I was lucky enough to win the drawing for the Dr. Evil werks transmission rebuild!!!!

hooray..... super excited about it
and I'm in debt to Ron who put the prize back into the pool to be drawn again.. thank you Ron! I will put it to good use!
Ron you need to come to ridgeway and let me make it up to you!

I got home safe this morning. It went well except for the clogged idle jet I picked up in Barstow. Got home OK though. I think I parked too close to Kents subie conversion because I think some of the "Subie curse" rubbed off on my usually "fine watch" running type IV. av-943.gif It's good to be home from a great event. I hope everyone made it home safe. Thanks again to John Peterson "vegas racer" for another outstanding Rt66. How about someplace just a little warmer next year? biggrin.gif
