Snapshots in time, taken out of the original cultural context, do appear strange when viewed much later. At that time, my appearence wasn't unusual in the southern California beach city I lived and worked in. From 1966 to 1986, I had been an all american competetive swimmer, a California state surf lifeguard/ocean swimmer, varsity water polo player at USC, and triathelete.
