I have sent my money in for the build event. I will be there sometime Friday morning if the creek doesn't rise to high.

I snored just as much (maybe a tiny bit less) when I was 6'1" and 180lbs as I do nowadays at 6'1" and a fatass.... I think weight plays a part...so why couldn't I had been snore free when I was young and a toothpick.... Cheated I say! I was cheated!

I heard a rumor that one of 914World's top and most respected mechanics has volunteered to oversee the build and give the build his blessing and certify the car safe.

Have you heard anything to this effect?

Yep it's true. Not only have we been honored with the likes of our own Dr. Evil and his mad skills, we have enlisted another one of the 914 crazys from the east side. This guy is a Porsche/VW trained life long mechanic. He recently retired from his dealership job to work at a 914 (and other Porsche/VW) shops. Infact he works for Chris Foley!

Ed Morrow agreed to come out and help us make sure that Buttercup is not only put back together correctly but just as importantly, safely. With Ed and Dr. Evil there we will have a solid foundation for a successful build!

Anyone that is on the fence here needs to find a way to join us for this fun and special event.

Ed has traveled to and attended more 914World events than I think anyone here. He has traveled across country from shore to shore.

This is going to be an informative build as well as great cause. I will benefit on both levels. My '72 restoration will be ready to be put back together in March after a "down to bare metal" paint job and the timing could not be better for me.

I can't wait!!

I am currently trying to see if I can work 4 10 hour days that week so I can come out on Thursday night. I hope to be able to be there. But I have to fly in and fly back on Sunday.......

If this is a crazy idea, somebody let me know... but has anybody given any thought to the potential teaching/informative aspects of this event?

What kind of internet connectivity do they have at the shop? Maybe a webcam (or multiple webcams), people narrating what's going on, somebody sitting at a notebook taking questions posted by those of us that can't be there and answers coming from those of you that are working on Buttercup? Video saved for posterity?

Besides this being such a great cause, it could turn into quite the learning opportunity and a chance for the rest of us to feel like we're almost there with you guys!

We don't want you to FEEL like you are there with us Betty, we want you all to ante up and join the party and actually BE THERE with us. Makes for a better time!

There is a conversation in the works for a web cam and Mike Morman said there is internet in the awesome shop we are working in.

I really like the web cam idea Leave it on all day, have a portable to go around and highlight specific tasks, answer questions. Very cool.

thats a great idea. been following this thread. that would really be cool to pick up on the event on line, for those who can't make it but wish they could. even if it was just a live feed.

I was planning on bringing my lappy and a web cam, if I can make it.

I plan on setting up a hi-res low light camera and a time lapse DVR (maybe a image a minute) - so the whole build can be reviewed in a few minutes. No audio though.

I will have my laptop with webcam as well, nothing extravagant though.

Will there be wifi in the garage? Does someone want to set up a site where we can broadcast multiple webcams to?

I know that the site has Internet - whether it has wireless is another story. We will know more after the recon trip later this month. Even with Internet some folks are leary of allowing any port forwarding on the router and other outside access.

How many simultaneous sessions are allowed with Skype?

I have Skype on my laptop but I have no idea how to use it...
