Really glad to see you finally got some air. You have no idea how often I think of your project and wonder how the heck you get by without it. Most recently was... well... just a few hours ago.

Oh, and peeps legs are over rated. I wouldn't worry about them.

@bbrock , hey I’m going to pick the better one to rehab.
Did you list where you obtained that flocking kit on your thread?
The local craft stores here aren’t carrying it. When I enquirered about
flocking to the cashier, she called security on me.

I did, but you won't like it. @raynekat sent me what he had for me to use and then send back what was left. You can get it on ebay though. Charcoal is what you want and you can pick up acrylic paint at your craft store for the glue.

I'd contact them and have them put together a charcoal kit for you. I think I only got the flock and application bottle from them and bought the acrylic paint at a local craft store. This group should be able to give you a matching paint as well.

Finally had some sun & decent temps to apply primer & paint to the front valance.
First up the primer

I used SEM satin black stone chip paint for the finish look.
Applied 3 coats.

Did a test fit. I’m pretty happy with it.
The contour match is ok. I can live with it.

That valance looks nice. How do you like the stone chip paint? I was thinking of using that myself on valances and rocker covers. Looking sharp

I like the SEM stuff. Especially the satin trim black.
The “stone chip” is nice. It all depends on distance your spraying with
the rattle can. Farther=small beads, close=blobs. If your using a “gun” I’m sure you’ll have better control.
The only thing is I’m not a total fan of is the sheen. It looks ... well...
rubbery. Being it’s gonna get pelted with debris, fine. Even though it’s
Satin finish it’s more gloss than I’d like.
I’m gonna try and topcoat with normal black satin.
Maybe temps affected it.
It was only 54F out today. I’ll try again when warmer.
I prefer the rockers just smooth satin.

Good info, thanks! I was hoping it was more like the stuff on the rockers of my newer cars that shows a little extra orange peel, but has the same gloss/sheen as the body paint. I can live with some orange peel on the rockers in exchange for fewer chips, but yeah, it needs to be satin.

Looks great.. I wonder though if you bought the upol that defiantly used on his roof would be an even better match??

You don’t want to use undercoat on the roof. Too unstable, ask me how I know. The paint will move under the trunk clips and crack. I stripped mine down and am using Raptor bed liner reduced 10% thru a Shutz gun. Raptor uses a hardener. Someone in my paint class did Colorado fender flares in Raptor and painted body color over it. 3 years and still holding up to daily driving.

It was in a sad state. The mice had enjoyed a stay in it.

That looks fantastic Sure beats the mouse pee stains, but you can't blame me for this one. This is all on @raynekat . I didn't know a flocking thing about flocking until Doug steered me right.

@RolinkHaus it’s a 2.4 on a ‘67 case. Originally with MFI before my purchase. Now on
Webers. The counterweighted crank and rods came from a 2.7 Liter 911 engine .
Standard of course . Rods were sent to Ray Litz to be checked and balanced .
No other mods. Your motor looks sweet.

It will be a long time before it looks anything like yours;)

Well it’s all to factory spec. Rebuilt around 20K miles ago.
Supposedly good for 140 per the books. We know Porsche is conservative with their stated numbers. I’d love to dyno it when the car is
complete. I’m sure it will be pleasing no matter what:-)

Bloody hell I can’t wait to be back on the streets. :-)

I think what I am going to do for my set up will use the prototype muffler to your muffler @Dion and then put some sport muffler tail pipes and then make them removable and cap-able so can make it quiet or loud.

@dion yes but one step further were the center tail pipes remove and then cap. That way you don't bang your shins on them

Dion - here’s what Ben made for me.

The drone of a 3.2 with a sport muffler is numbing. 2000/2800 rpms. I’m considering a single outlet or convertible muffler like yours Mark.

I posted this earlier in my thread but I think it’s cool to look at
and I’m sure it’s gonna be loud. The primitive diffuser is interesting.

It's built on Ben's quiet muffler so it can be truly duel purpose. The ss latches to hold on the caps were my idea but Ben did all the work. If the latches go bad, the extensions are removable and replaceable - Ben's idea.

If I ran a rear valance, I could cut the third pipe short and cap the center two to make people wonder what's going on.

Beauty....you buys both have rocking 914's now that your glove box inners are properly restored. Ha

Staying as close to “six” form as possible, I tried to emulate the
heat flapper valves on the sixes. Took a page out of @mepstein technique.
I’ve never seen one for sale for quite a while, so a bit of diy.
Basically a hole saw cut in the mushroom cap.
I’m a bit pissed as the craftsman arbor refused to stay clamped
tightly and we had a wobble on the one cap. So we don’t want to look at that one too closely.
Ran to Lowe’s and picked up a new Lenox arbor and 32mm hole saw.
A lick of paint later. We are ready for heat.

I hate cheap hole saws for that very reason, but I can barely see that wobble. It's nothing like that giant valance delete googe.
