I need to get the PR man back into forum-mode as there are new updates.
Here's the drive train hoist that we fabricated for about 625 lbs.of engine/Trans placement.

Love all the mods, I guess POC will have to put you in the P1 class or an exhibition class if and when you decide to run this monster.

This car keeps getting better and better!

Marty,

I was just thinking the other day I probably need a net...I hope my copy-cat is taken as flattery. Would you kindly post a picture of how you fabricated the rearward mounts? Thank you in advance!

PS: Although my car is not even within the same league as your build...it would be an absolute thrill (for me) to get our cars together on track. My "new" engine arrives tomorrow from TX - it is "my version" of the perfect power plant. How quickly can you get that car finished? I'm heading to Road America later this year... poke.gif

Tony, they make the net-strap end real simple to install.
Each of the 3 horizontal straps wrap around the vertical section of the roll bar.
Each strap is held in place with a buckle, similar to the type used on your helmet strap (just wider for this net-strap). No welding at all, makes a real clean installation.
I don't know when we will trailer out to Atlanta, lots of tracks out west !
Once she's running, I'll be testing and tuning at Willow Springs (home track ) with some Haltech tuners.
More updates as the build continues welder.gif

Took a measurement and made an outline off of a gt3RS quarter . I'll sketch it into the rear Sheridan 914 quarters, and install the factory gt3RS ducts.
These will feed air to the left + right rear oil coolers. Always handy to have another Porsche nut in the neighborhood blink.gif

Here's the layout on the quarter panel itself.

Thanks Marty for the "push"...I've gone full Safecraft (harnesess, twin window nets, fire bottle system, etc). They have a unique edge about them...again, thanks to you for bringing them to our attention!

Your car continues to amaze me! At least I can say there is something in common with your car...our window nets! rolleyes.gif

One more item completed; hand built ecu harness for the Haltech Elite 2500 management system. Designing the custom schematic and the harness build was fun , the Weller soldering gun got her done ! The Porsche Cayenne TT ecu is not tuneable for anywhere near the needs of this 5.0Click to view attachment

Very nice Marty...I'm glad those days are over!

Using our Teledyne-Pines N° 2 rotary hydraulic mandrel tube bender. After I sketch out the design, I use 3/4" dia. emt tubing / bend up with a contractors conduit bender. Then take the samples to the mandrel machine and produce the 1 3/4" dia ×".120 wall bends. The rest is cutting, and finishing to spec-fit, welding, repeat for the other side.
It's also what I've been doing since 1976...so it's kind of my craft...definitely no short cuts to it !

Here is a "Continuation " product that I haven't made in about 35+ years, some customers want these again. For the Manx + dune buggy guys, the MSDS Baja Eliminator.
Cool angles and precise bending going on here in the extractor header, and 4 over the top exhaust tips. Click to view attachment

Sometimes, I think Marty just tend to surf this forum. I remember seeing other updates in the various Porsche forums.

Yes, I think the ones who really appreciate this out of the box track toy would love to see updates to this incredible build

You are correct that he (and I) still very much frequent this forum, and others too.

We are very happy to know that you all still enjoy seeing our progress on this project. We are 99% done with fabrication / body panel fitting, and will hopefully be in paint by November 1st.

All of past my body shop relationships have been lukewarm. I've been dealing with a new local shop for a couple years...looks like this roller should be smooth sailing.
Scotty is tops tho !

Simple clip/screw attachment to the GT3RS fender ducts, this will keep them in place on the Sheridan quarter panels. After placing my template down to the fenders, I only had one chance to correctly cut the fiberglass...and I nailed it smile.gif Click to view attachment

Awesome!

Just out of curiosity, why did you go for standard primering, etc. instead of powder coating since this is really just the "hidden" frame?

Jim...we needed to install the custom dashboard prior to building our cage around that area (can't install post-cage) . Since powder coating involves the heat/oven cycle...that would be a no-go for the alcantara /CF dashboard. Body shop is using one of the best primers /2 coats, after full metal preperation smile.gif

Fabricating the support brackets for gt3rs air ducts ; installing into rear Sheridan quarter panelsClick to view attachment
Maltese Falcon
The set- up with rubber tipped vise grips, clamp; the contours of the ducts are made for 991 fitment; clamps help relax the duct into the Sheridan fender, which has a real close contour to the 991 but not exact. Each bracket (6 tot) has its own mating angle to the duct fastener. Simple JB epoxy and a 24 hour set up time, and complete.
