My graphic arts buddy Sam creatively at work with the 8gtt livery; a spicey twist on the #40 style.
He's also making us a couple extra rooftop "Sonauto" banners, as the sticker on #40 took
to the wind while under speed at RR7 Laguna Seca. We did get lucky tho as it stuck itself down to the rear plexi window !

Check out the roof banner / transplanted to the rear targa window...stuck just long enough to finish several exhibit laps; one more lap it would have been into the weeds biggrin.gif

More brackets this week, I'll tack these in place with the .035 Miller mig then finish up in the welding dept.

This is the Bosch 12v coolant pump which will be utilized for the trans cooler radiator. Its main use is for the heater system in Mercedes; but also used by Magnacharger (kits) in their supercharger intercooling just under the blower /integrated in the intake manifold. These are built stout and I've only changed 1 pump in 200k miles of use in my supercharged '05 F150 smile.gif

That is neat. In the 70’s my brother and I would make cannonball runs from LA to San Diego. I was driving and he was in the back seat watching our six with binoculars. Not as clean as your setup but it worked.

Looking good! That thing is going to be a rocket.
Maltese Falcon
@krazykonrad if not a rocket...we will be OK with a slow jet biggrin.gif

During the L.A. Porsche Lit week, I had a couple of surprise visitors over to MSDS shop; Glenn @gms and Andrew @Moparboy72 .They had a good look see around the 8gtt project, then presented us with a passing grade biggrin.gif
I also walked them through the exhaust fabrication process and they are both now Top Tier header specialists !

Thanks again!

I like that idea for the oil cooler brackets. The bracket stays out of the way. Nice execution with the correct angles! Keep working on the car and giving us updates. I check almost daily. lol

Pre fitting all of the targa area aluminum trim, before
the pieces head into the body shop for detailing + black coating. I'm big on all of the small 914 items that we can integrate back into this custom build. Shoutout to @Montreal914 for sourcing the rear targa trim pieces for us !

Glad I was able to somewhat contribute to this build biggrin.gif.

BTW, you picked up that trim at our previous house (rental). We bought our house and moved to Claremont 8 years ago… blink.gif So…time flies… Then, I had started rebuilding a 74 914 (white repainted red) while enjoying my 73 DD bought when I moved to CA late 2009., I later decided to pass along the 74 project and focus only on my 73, restoration that is still ongoing… rolleyes.gif The white 74 car project is in good hands with Glenn @pencap914 . smile.gif

I assume you're probably using the same rubber isolators to mount the oil coolers as you did to mount the trans cooler. Although they're probably very generic, I'm still curious which ones you're using.

For the smaller isolater-rubber buffers, like the 4 mounting points (sae ¼x20 threads) on this trans radiator: I just use neoprene or silicon muffler-bracket inserts. I just lightly disc sand these to remove any bumps, and install with small fender style washers, then a wavy washer and a little torque.

For bigger accessories like a large intercooler (8mm or 5/16 threads) same technique but I use a larger silicon- buffer...also a donor from a muffler- bracket.

Maltese Falcon
The next size up that I use as isolator-pads (intercooler mounts), are these inserts taken off the"Aeroflow" billet style muffler-clamps (not shown); for 8mm, 5/16 sae fasteners.

Basic location of tank, going to bring its height up another 3.375" and fabricate the upper tank-support bracket. Tight fit but I borrowed this placement idea after looking at various mid engine racecars, and the slim diameter of this tank just makes it in this spot.

When you get this finished, you should duplicate the paint job on the Sounato GT, but with number 41.

Clay, definitely a spin off on the LeMans 914...but a little hot Cayenne spice added !
