that looks moire like Willow Green...not Zambezi. Does the paint code indicate Zambezi and is it the original paint?
Zambezi is darker, looks more like British Racing Green.

Guess I need to post our 914 and project. I had always been attacked to the 914/mid engine concept. Bought the car in 96 from friends going through a divorce in a package with a Benz 300E. PO had the car rebuilt by an apparent aircraft mechanic. Still had problems but cosmetics were nice. Drove the teener home to Chicago from Kennebunkport Maine. First winter, the boys attacked the minimal residual rust. Going through a revision now. Engine still with the McNutt brothers at Autocraft Engines.

Andrew's new scoup idea.
lmcchesney
May 19 2004, 08:34 AM
Scoup in place. The scoup feeds a 3" flex hose and directed to oil cooler and as a cold air intake to engine compartment. When we drove with the rocker panel outside of Andrew's car, it really diverts significant amount of air.

I'm pretty sure that it's zambezi. The last time I checked the color charts for 73 zambezi was the only one that came close to it. Was willow green available in 73?
except for the hood the paint is origional, but maybe not for long...

Just checked the paint codes, yes it is zambezi, willow green was only offered for 71-72, zambezi was 73-74, and a few earlier years.
I looked at this site,

Well of course it's quicker than the V8....no big surprise there
Since new tairs are gonna cost you, make sure you're gonna keep this one a while......that is, more than a month or 2. I'm looknig forward to seeing it....and you too
Pray for no rain. Skinner is gonna be there and he has new tires....life is hard.

I have a set of Yoko ADVAN 032-R 225/50/ZR16 and 245/45/ZR16. The fronts are corded so I need at least two new tires.
This car seems to be more to my liking and I think it will be a keeper. And I will follow your suggestion of a run or three before going whole hog on new tires.
JP now give me a suggestion on muffler??

Hi Karl,
the sidemarkers are the italian version, they are a little different to the us ones.
But i am looking to remove the sidemarkers. I dont like them very much. When i bought the car it has clear blinkerglasses (italian ones) but now it has mounted the european style(amber/clear).
The car came in 2002 from italy back to germany

Dunkle's car has GT style two tone bumpers, doesn't it? A lot of similar stuff though. White, 3 liter, flares, 951 brakes.

I realized I hadn't shot or posted many pics of my car in a year or more. So here they are - yup it has changed "just a bit" since I bought it almost 2 years ago.

that'd be the ex-Dunkle car... he sold the car a while back and the new owner has yet to step forward either here or on RennList AFAIK ... i gather s/he's from out of the area so i wouldn't be looking forward to seeing it at the ECR this year ...

May 24 2004, 09:32 AM
me too. Does it stay cool?
exc911ence
May 24 2004, 12:23 PM
The car actually stays really cool. It's got a big 911 oil cooler and electric fan set-up in the front right fender and will idle in traffic for hours if required. It normally stays at about 1/4 the way up the temp gauge in normal driving, although I had it up to 1/2 way yesterday during an indicated 120mph sprint on the highway (kids, don't try this at home!). The P/O used to race the car at Portland and he said that it never even came close to getting too hot on the track. The only downside to the pancake cooling set-up that I've found is that stray FOD in the engine compartment always works its way into the low-mounted cooling fan and gets shot upwards into the bottom of the engine lid... I have a nice dent from a cooling shroud screw that went awol on me...

Just a note on this subject... The firing order diagram on my -6 located on the underside of the engine lid must have been from a 911.... It shows the direction of travel pointing away from the flywheel.... Do any of you other -6 owners have that as well, or did the factory make a mistake on mine?
