biggrin.gif I've thinned out the heard. I only have the orange 70 (one in the garage with black stripes) and the 73 Track car. Sold the yellow & blue one off. The black car was one of many parts cars I pick up.

This is my 1973 phoenix red. My grandpa bought the car brand new in 1973, he since passed and gave it to my dad. After ALOT of coaxing I convinced my dad to pass it down to me. The original plan was to get it back up and running ( it sat for 8+ years) and gift it back to him for Christmas, but he insisted I keep it. So here she is on her 3rd generation. If you notice the rear valance is off the car in the photo because I was prepping it to paint, but it is now back on. I've also since got a set of fuchs for her, just need some new rubber for them and ill be golden driving.gif Click to view attachment

(edit for sideways photo)
Here are a few more

Photo 1 is when she was rolled out of the garage for the first time in almost a decade.

Photo 2 is when she first came to long beach, I drove up the the wayfarers chapel being that my grandpa and grandma had gotten married there. and

photo 3 is when I reattached the rear valance after paint.

Let’s see your babies, 914’s only please!
We really don’t care what kind of POS water-cooled you drive. Unless it’s a 914 V-8 conversion of course!

Sorry our pic is a bit crappy.

Where did you get the 2.3 emblem? I've got a 2270 also, and was wondering if anyone makes them.

Gorgeous car! Amazing how perfect the original paintwork is for a 40 year old car!

How much did they ding you for speakers in the doors?
SteveLE
LE sat in a gentlemans' garage in OR for over 20 years, rarely driven. 72K orig miles. When you get close, there are small scars here and there and some road rash, but I am amazed how the black paint held up! Dent doctor also did a great job.
It did take me over two years of meticulous cleaning, inside out, engine, wheel wells,...
Turns out the humid air in OR is friendly to all the rubber which was also in really good shape.
Door speakers - what was wierd at parade in preservation, they did not share score sheets, just posted results. These door speakers look so natural in black I've never pursued replacements.

My first post on this forum. smile.gif Coming from the 911 world as I am also the proud owner of a 993 4S (member on Rennlist)
My first 914! It is a beautiful red 1973 2.0l.
I have driven it for the first time this weekend taking advantage of a mild and sunny 2 days.
However I find the brakes weak and that is the first thing I will address (I know it is old technology and one needs to press the brake pedal much harder than on a modern car).
Next I want to have the engine checked for my own comfort. Perhaps a compression test? Check the valve adjustments? I am not hands on and not a mechanical expert so I will bring it to a specialist but any recommendation on what to check on a 101k Miles engine will be welcome.

Nice one Chris!

I'm waiting for a friend who's into Porsches for a final check next Wednesday before I hand the cash for the Silver grey 73 model I'm looking for.

What area do you live? (me, on the Veluwe).
