Trav, you need some center caps on those wheels.

Apr 14 2005, 07:56 PM
No kiddin' Gotta dismount the tires and blast, fix dings, sand & polish. I am thinking about doing wurth silver on them for a little different look. Probably wouldn't look right next to the darker paint color though..

Apr 14 2005, 08:11 PM
Don't blast!!! Blasting will make pits that are hard to sand/polish out. Polish and elbow grease. they will shine like chrome. Save the Wurth for wheels that are meant to be dull. Westerns look better with a high luster.

Great pic of teener leading the F1 pac with the Maclaren in Front.
Anyone notice the Ontario plates on the teener.
Looks like Turn 3 at Mosport sometime in the late seventies, early
eighties.
Thx for the pic.

I thought I sent you a pic already. Turn OFF your porn filter!
It's an early 70's 911 fender well (non SC). The weld seam is about 4" beyond the opening.
I'd be happy to shoot some other pics for you if you need some reference for body work.

Hey,
Here's my '72. Nothing fancy but fun. 1.7w/webers, turbo tie rods, SS braided lines, Momo steering wheel. Perfect original interior, non-retracting seatbelts. All heat junk removed by previous owner. My 3rd 914 ('73, and '76).
Have to have a 914 in the garage to feel whole!!

Aaron,
The PO was REALLY tall and with full adj. to the mirror, he was still staring at the back of the car. So he repositioned it. It is kinda nice too. Right at eye level, just have to glance over to look into it.

Well....here it is. I have been checking out this site for years but just recently started posting to it. This is my 3rd 914. I have owned it for about five years. The last two years however, the car was gutted, stripped down to bare metal and redone. It just got back on the road two weeks ago. The original color was the metallic copper. It is a 75 1.8. It is all stock with the exception of the airfilter, front sway bar and 140# rear springs. While I had it apart I did the bumper conversion but now I am in search of some good rubber tops. If I can't find any I might go fiberglass instead(please feel free to contact me if you know of anyone that might help me in my search!) As you can see from the pictures I am still getting all the trim pieces put on as I find them locally, on eBay, on this site....you know the drill.
It will be lowered to a reasonable height this week and with any luck all the little pieces will be put on sooner rather than later! Look me up if you are ever in the Phoenix area.

I figure it's time I show some pics. This is about how it looked when i first converted it. I'm getting ready for paint.
This is some time later after a little work. Paint is done, FG rear flares, wheels, tires.
And this is the same car now. New paint. I always wanted a silver 914.
Then I got a good deal on another 914 that I couldn't pass up. I like the polka dots.
More pics on my website. Link at bottom of page.

Here's an update of my sweet Bahia Red 914 (now) 6. Carbon fiber front bumper, hood, rear bumper and hood. Wing removes with 4 nuts for street use. As before, 3.2 l mildly tweaked; twin turbo brakes F & R; full roll cage, 9x17" wheels, 245x17" tires F, 10x17" wheels, 285x17" R ("street"); 9 & 10x18" for track (had to drive to Lime Rock, so street tires in picture); Boxster S transmission.
Street legal and a blast on the track. I bought new in 1971. No rust
Great car! Wonderful new, even better now!

The Car looks sweet ABC. It might look like it is sitting kinda high because of that part of the track. At lime Rock you can get two wheels of the ground on the back part of the course...going straight.
ABC914
May 7 2005, 07:39 AM
Yes, it does look a little high, but probably for two reasons - I normally run "track" tires (P Zero C) on 18" rims, but I had to drive on street rubber for this event (BFG KDW). Second, I don't trailer, so I can't make it too low or the oil cooler becomes an oil drain. Not good. It's hard to see from the picture, but the front dam has a splitter, so I do have to be careful.
I agree about the cross struts to stiffen the wing supports. I got the car back from the shop on Tuesday and drove to Lime Rock on Wednesday, so no time to shakedown.
Fenders were done by Carradini Auto Rebuilders in Rockaway, NJ. (973) 627-7717, ask for Billy. Great job, solid, no cracks. All steel. He cuts off the fender edge, add "pizza slices" of steel to extend the fender, then welds the edge back on to make it look like factory. The shape removes some of the boxiness from the 914. Almost looks voluptuous now. I love it!
