The PO did that mod, i've changed back to euro lenses. Here in the Uk you can buy 'light tinting spray' which basically blacks out the lights as much or as little as you want, it is common with the 'boy racers' over here....

Ok,

It's time I post the pictures of my 72 Bahia Red; as it was when I bought it and now, after Shelby worked her magic on it. I still need to finish a few other issues with the car, but I really like the car's new appearance.

Nice shades.gif

How about posting a current pic or two of Shelby? shocked[1].gif

1973 914, 50/50 car. Originally a 1.7L/4. When I bought it in 1985, it had a 2.0L/4 with webers.
Two years later, I learned that CARBURATORS ARE NOT SMOG LEGAL on a 4 cylinder 914!!! (PPI, kids, PPI !!)
DAPO had swapped in a 2.0L T-IV Bus(?) engine with Weber carbs wacko.gif. Clueless DACO bought it headbang.gif
Well ... in my defense, it was probably the prettiest Lemon* in all of Northern California with it's fresh paint & re-upholstered interior.
*hiden crash damage, missing parts, rusty hell-hole, sick transmission...(PPI, kids, PPI !!)

Shortly after buying this 4 cyl. Porsche, my only 914, I learned there was such an Animal as the 914/6 idea.gif .
Bye bye Gross-Polluter!
Over the Winter of 1987/88, I got B.A.R. referee approval and converted it into a /6 with a SMOG LEGAL '73.5 911T 2.4L-CIS engine. biggrin.gif
The fuel injected /6 passes smog inspections easily, has 50 more HP, gets better gas mileage, and has lasted 3 times longer than the carburated /4 could have ever hoped to.

A few years after the engine swap I bought & installed it's '89 Carrera front suspension/brakes, 911SC rear brakes and 6x15 Fuchs wheels. I also back-dated the front bumper, found a straight re-chromed rear bumper, replaced the plastic aftermarket mirrors with 911 Flag mirrors, and replaced the Flex-Dam with a LE spoiler.

If not for that sweet 911 engine, I would have sold this Porsche 20 years ago. Most likely it would have found the crusher by now. Smog related issues are a head-ache!

I drive it a lot! Its my favorite driver. I have driven it 220K miles since buying it.
I estimate there is 340K miles on the chassis now (original speedo removed before car found me).
The /6 engine has 290K miles on it now and still screaming along. 200K of those miles in this 914. driving.gif

Thats my most recent wood-shop project in the background smash.gif . Ya think ye 'ol shop teacher will give me an 'A' now?

I'm glad the cabin is finally finished (10 yrs to plan, design, fight for permits & build). Now I can turn my attention back to my 914 and get restoration #2 started
(repaint, leather interior ... 3.2L DME(?)).

I just realized, that I left out the 73' conversion parts car. It is gone now. I've got to show it some respect. Here is the picture. made a great parts and conversion car. I almost kept it, but 2 914s is a little too much for me.Click to view attachment
749142
two is a little too much? hmm , between my dad and i we have 3 of em. 2 are running and in daily operation, although my dad doesnt drive his daily, i drive mine daily and we are going to restore the third one. his current one is too nice for daily service. cherry red stored in a garage since about 89, he just started driving it here in the last couple of years. anyways i say you can never get too much of a good thing, right?
tronporsche
That is true, to a certain extent, and depending on what it is , for example...... drunk.gif But I do miss the other 914 for some strange reason. I do wonder, though , how many people have more than one 914, thus the new thread........... biggrin.gif

Thanks! I did the seats and the wood is fake. It is a process we provide in the aircraft business. I will try and post better pics.

Hey I'm new to this sweet site! I was not sure where to post my first hello post so I'm going to do it here....My name is Andi and I love Porsche...My father started the first shade tree Porsche garage in Texas and was also a Porsche designer and mechanic for Jo Sifferts team.In the 914 world...my mom had a 914/6 and my dad had a rare 916...I decided to pickup a 1973 Porsche 1.7 and drive it hard till it blows...and install my 911 3.6 into the car and make a GT Clone for Porsche Club Racing here in Texas. The only problem is that my car has been perfect and wont die to start this project...I think I'm going to restore my 914 and drop the 3.6 into another 914.I'm not sure if its ok to talk about other Pcars here but just in case I also drive a 1976 Porsche 911 3.0 imported from Waldkreiburg,Germany and a 1976 Porsche 912E...all three of my Pcars are silver with Black wheels.

I went pretty much with stock colors (except for the fan housing) for the 'temporary' engine I'm getting ready to stuff in my wife's car ...

I love those "chromies" and hubcaps! It is the look I am going for on my '72 when it returns from paint and body shop.
