Jim,
16X7's will fit perfectly all around with the offset that the rear of the boxsters have. Unfortuntately I have 16X7's and 16X6's. On that pic the 16X7's are on the front and fit perfect with no spacers. The 16X6's are on the rear and I have just over 1" clearance on each side on the outer lip. As soon as I find another pair of 16X7's i'll swap out the 6". If you get a full set...you can put the 16X6's on the front but you'll need spacers to bring it out some (i think it is about 15mm difference in the offsets of the front/back boxster rims).
Or you can do what I did, which I've been told is fine as long as you keep the same size tire front/back.

Jim, could you make a template of how your mirrors are mounted? I've got the mirrors & backing plates & all the electronics, but I'm not sure of mounting placement.

I have the mirrors too, although not the backing plates. But I could never figure out how to mount them. If you can do the template thing, could you send it to me too? I would like to put those mirrors on the car.

I got the backing plates from Dave @ GPR, but I think you can still get them thru the dealer.

I LOVE your yellow slope nose!! Is that a kit or did you do your own fabricating? Some day when (if) I grow up, I want a 914 just like that one!!! Oh, and more pics would be very nice too. Got ant from the front?

I will post more pics and I will measure the mirrors as soon as I'm done with my brake caliper rebuilds (all 4 calipers including the inner/outer adjustment seals!), pedal cluster rebuild and clutch cable replacement. I'm on a mission to have these done for the Fall Foilage!

Thanks, I thought all I had to really focus on was two new Jack Posts and a new rear trunk panel from AA, the car has never been in any wrecks and is in great condition, then I joined this club and learned about the "Hell Hole". That ended up changing things. I've been following Micahels thread on his project pretty close. I don't think I will need to go quite that far, but, we'll see. I have since bought the Inner Longitudes Stiffening Kit from Engman and a Chassis Stiffening Kit, etc. been following the threads on the Fender Flairs too.

ematulac - a couple questions about your fine-looking car...
Its a 74 but has 75-76 bumpers? Were they updated or are they original?
Out of curiosity, what is your VIN?
ematulac
Oct 29 2004, 11:39 AM
I purchased the car from a woman who didn't have a whole lot of information on the car. The car was registered as a '74, and I just assumed that the bumpers had been upgraded when the slant nose conversion was done.
The VIN is 4742918391.

It's me in my baby at a hillclimb event back in August 2002
starting line: 1,699 m
finish line: 2,730 m
fastest car: '72 Porsche 911 E Targa (2,4 L - 165 PS) - 6 min 17.98 sec
me: '74 Porsche 914 (1,8 L - 76 PS) - 13 min 16.06 sec
slowest: '62 Fiat 1200 Cabriolet (1,1 L - 50 PS) - 24 min 35.29 sec

In the back you can see the mountains, where the FIS ski worldcup opens every year with a Super-G in Sölden / Tyrol.

It's a nice Friday afternoon so I took my car a couple miles away from the house for a few pictures. I bought it two years ago - it was a real POS - and I totally rebuilt it with a V8 conversion. I sold my first 914 in 1989 and always wanted to have another one when I had a little more time, more money, and a bigger garage. So I bought a rusted, collision-damaged blue 74 fairly-cheap, and here's what it looks like now:

It's a great car to drive. There are still things left to do, like installing the A/C and heater, but I like driving it so much now it's hard to do work on it.
Edit: updated links to old photos on 1/24/13

one thing- looks like its in 4x4 mode... lower it a tad

Thanks! I like to take it off-roading in the desert

But seriously, I'll need to get better adjustable-perch rear shocks someday to lower the rear. I could bring the front down some. But I have 15s on the front and 16s on the back. I got the Fuchs for free, but maybe some day I'll come across another pair of 16s to balance it out.
