One of the first postings on this forum was a pic of the car 'as found'.

Now it's back on the road - after a mechanical overhaul: engine, clutch, brake system, steering. All brand new! Time for pics!

HELLO 914 WORLD!

I've owned a total of 15 Porsches, everything from boxsters to GT3s. 3 years ago I sold my 911 due to a divorce, and I recently decided get back my PCA membership, so I bought another Porsche. I'm back in the saddle! This time with the one that got away, another 914. Quick story behind that, I've been married twice, my first marriage ended while I was mid-restoration on a beautiful 1974 914. I was forced to sell it, and have held a grudge about it since. There was a hole in my heart and soul that a 911, 986, 944 turbo, and not even a GT3 could fill. I missed the one that got away (914, not the exwife biggrin.gif ).

2 days ago I picked up a great little 1972 914, this morning I signed up for this forum in hopes of meeting great people, talking about great cars, and sharing knowledge.

Hello at all,

you fans, addicts, connoisseurs, wrenchers, welders and gurus of the 914 and of course builders of this unbelievable site !

After the lurking-time of only 10 (ten) years on this side I finally had the courage to register here.
Because I'm not as well skilled as many of you in repairing our cars, I have very, very much learned about my car over this geologically seen, short period.

I already had a saturn yellow '72 back then in 1978, but due to the almighty rust I don't think he survived to present.

I will try to post pictures if I can find out from where I can pick them, because no picture-account.

René.

Hi sir Mark, i assumed Vinnie's engine on his car is an 8 cyl. No engine grille and looks like the air filter is sticking out. Vinnie is just less than 2 miles from me and we will be meeting soon. I was talking to him thru text last night. His business is Industrial piping system and provide welding service.

My 1974 2.0, bought in Redwood City, Ca. Sat in a garage since 1990, now it's back in action! Anybody else live in Santa Cruz and own a 914, 914's?

Hi, I live in Corralitos & have a green 1971-6 that I have completely restored. I, too ,love Porsches & this is our 2nd 914 & have had other models years ago. Maybe we will see one another on the road! Steve

I live over by Prunedale, and just purchased this '74 6-conversion in December. My first foray into air-cooled after owning first a 2000 Boxster, and then a 2000 Cab. I was autocrossing the Cab, and this became available through a club member. The purchase was over a year in the making, so it must be right.

Presenting.... Nina! The car had been a GGR TT car for most of it's life. After the 3.0 from a '78 SC donor was installed in early 90's, fulfilling the owner's dream, it was never tracked again and barely driven due to illness. She's back in action, and ready to pick up where she left off. I'm hoping to round off a couple of the rough edges, and enjoy her as much as possible! She offers me a lot that the cab didn't, but my wife is still not entirely elated with the change. No more fretting over handing things over to a valet though!

And yes, even though both do have some vestiges of attitude, Garfield and the IMSA spoiler will be gone very soon. Looks like a fun bunch in here! Bring your real 6 over to Marina for the AX this summer, the FAA is kicking us out after this season. Other club members would love to see your car!

Cheers,

Todd

Hi, just purchased a 73 with a 2.4 Raby 4. I live in Capitola and have owned and raced several Porsches. Just restored a Ghia coupe, hot rod. Look forward to hooking up with the locals.
Cheers
