Looking good Abe. Appears you had quarter panel fixed.

Did you paint entire car?
abes914
Yup. Painted the whole car after the accident. Paid additions 1,000 to fix dents and surface rust and to paint the whole car. But it took them 5 months.

Made it out to a swap meet this weekend, first drive of the season after installing a side shift trans and a few other exterior updates.

A friend of mine snapped these photos, they're pretty low res but still ok for forum posting I think. Alex Bellus photography, highly recommended if you're in the Twin Cities.

Answers to the most common questions:

Yes I know my sidemarkers are not present, I dislike them more than empty holes. Bodywork will eventually fill them.

Wheels are 16x7, 195/55 tires, I had to roll the inner fender lip but no rubbing now.

Yes I have a pair of genuine Heuer timers mounted on my dash.

Nice looking cars and photos!

This will sound pretty "ghetto", and really it is, but for a while when I had no sidemarkers and had not yet filled/painted the holes, I got some decal/label stock which I cut into circles around that size and spray painted to match the car. (I have color-matched rattle can paint from Tower Paint.) From a few feet a way it looked MUCH better than the open holes.

Yesterday my wife had her car out thus had an empty spot in the garage and the light was right - thought I'd contribute a few pics of "914AROO" before I took her out for a spin.

Cant say I have any complaints. Car arrived without damage and they had an agent on the other side handle all the paperwork. The ship it was on was a bit delayed, but it got here safe and sound.

Hi Folks,

I am new to 914 World and wanted to introduce myself and my newly purchased 1972 Porsche 914-4. Its odometer shows 18K miles, which based on the condition of the car seems to be correct. It came with the original window sticker, invoice, service records, Ziebart receipt, tool kit and license plate frames from Porsche Audi at O'Hare (in Elk Grove Village, Illinois).

Here are the brochures, original window sticker, invoice, tool kit and the Porsche Audi at O'Hare license plate frame that came with my car. The original owner was a a horse vet, so he had this horse head key chain.

The original owner was not a careful driver. I have receipts for a new taillight, touch-up and a replacement valance that all happened within the first 2 months of purchase.

I purchased the car from the original owner's neighbor...who had always admired the car. However, after he bought it, his wife did not want to travel in it because it does not have air conditioning.

It was Ziebarted at the time of purchase, which saved it from any of the usual rust you would find on Chicago area cars.

Scott from Chicago.

Hello from The Netherlands!

This is my recently acquired 1971 1.7. From what I can tell it was first delivered in The Netherlands from new in 1970. It’s also suspected to still have the original engine and transmission (awaiting confirmation but numbers seem to be period correct).

I’m looking to restore it to its original state and colour (Canary Yellow/L11E).

Can anyone here point me toward a good metal work outfit. I have a late 74 2.0 car that i used as a parts car for another project and it is now time to start restoring the parts car. The group that did my last one is too busy to take this one. Here is a photoClick to view attachment
