Interesting photo taken from a friend's car on a recent PCA tour...it's a hoot being able to keep pace with everyone's late model cars!

I just picked this project up, its a 1972 that is in need of some body work on the battery pan area and a small rolled fender with minor rust. I pulled it from the forest here in Fairbanks.

Sweet! That makes two that I know of in Alaska. The other one was in Homer and in VERY rough shape!

I've heard of 'barn finds' and 'found in a field', first time for a 'forest find'

Drove up to Monterey , CA via Cambria. Stopped there on the way back too.

Color is L99K, Copper. It was used on '75 and possibly '76 cars only

I'm new here. My dad is gifting me his '72 914 that is the original gold color. She needs some work and love but I hope to get her back in tip-top shape. He is a Porsche guy and you can see two of his "babies" in the picture. One under cover (a 96 Arena Red twin turbo) and the headlight of his 94 911 turbo in Oak Green. I'm sure I will be asking lots of questions of ya'll.

Finally got a picture for the site... here's the '74 2.0 I picked up and am currently repairing to get past inspection

Here's mine, just acquired. It's a 72 California car brought here to the UK in 2010. It's all original with 4 previous owners lots of history right back to the bill of sale. I've Had Porsches for a long while but this is my first 914. Great forum.

My '74 1.8:

Ok, I added her to the VIN database. She arrived last weekend and WHOA! She wasnt in such bad condition last time I drove her (college). But then again, she has sat in my fathers driveway for 5 years. She wasn't special enough to go in the garage with the big boys (3x911s and a really fast Rx7).

She kinda looks like that girl at Wal-Mart that could be pretty if she didnt look quite like "that".

We got her running yesterday and I tore through my friends neighborhood with her top off! Whooo she can still run! Have an issue with the compression on the carbs that might be a valve thing?!?? I'll start a new thread about that. We are going to look into that next weekend. She is getting 4 new shoes this week as her current ones are dryrotted. Wish I could get new $200 shoes! She will eventually get repainted and maintain her beautiful original gold color.

Excited to have her here and have a long road ahead of us until she is ready for Victoria's Secret I am sure I will be asking tons of questions!

I usually get pretty good deals from DiscountTiresDirect.com. You probably just missed a good 4th of July Special though

Make sure to check out the condition of the brakes ... caliper seals, hoses, new fluid, etc. Check and replace the fuel hoses too. If the tires were rotted ... well, any other rubber parts may have suffered the same fate

Valve adjustment, adjust/replace ignition points, set timing, etc. and you should be good to go

Certainly cleaned up nice, Cory. I saw it when it was still in Knoxville.

Thanks, just got done cleaning the gas tank out, new stainless fuel lines, new CB rotary fuel pump and filter. Runs great now. now to find the next project for her!

Awesome garage!

Here's my 75 Magenta Red with its 25ft paint. Last registered in 1995ish. The last owner started to restore it and had the engine running well, but clutch was iffy. Now being repainted.

I am a new forum member... But a long time 914 owner. I have owned this 74' 1.8 since the fall of 1984. We took these pictures yesterday near Starved Rock Park in Northern Illinois. There will probably be fewer and fewer nice days like this, this year..
My 914 is far from perfect, but is mostly original and still a ball to drive. My wife Lisa is a sweetheart too!

My name is Ty, and I'm located down in San Diego County. I picked up a 1974 Porsche 914 2.0 in May 2014; it's a driver, but it has numerous issues. The car came with A/C, but most of the parts are missing; this was an original So Cal 1-family car. This will be my project for the next several years; the plan is to convert it to a -6 in a few years. Currently I'm upgrading the brake system and converting to 5-lug. Overall, this is the 3rd 914 that I have owed, hopefully I'll hang onto this one longer than the previous two.

Make sure to get the high performance shift forks and other internal goodies from California Motor Sports, in Lake Havasu, Arizona.
The Boxster trans is not happy with stock internals+big hp.
