Nice car, I like the yellow. Before covering the wood with upholstery, be sure and have it inspected for wood bore beetles.
Seriously very nice, I rember alot of guys on the board either loved or didn't. You got a very nice car.

The guy lied about a few things in the auction but what can you
do. Motor was advertised as a 2.4/4 cylinder. Wrong, 100mm
pistons with stock stroke. More like 2.1x. Heads were not
ported and polished as advertised and the motor was crap.
Crank bearing shot, no oil pressure and had water rot in the
cylinders so they had very little compression. I pulled the motor
and had it rebuilt by a shop in Denver. Now it really is a 2.4. 104mm
pistons with stock stroke. Heads completely redone with all new pieces.
Mild Web .423. They told me at 2.4 the Weber 40's would struggle on the
top so I moved up to 44's. Changed the ignition over to a pertronix with
an Mallory, MSD style muli-spark unit. Should run tons better than it did.
Lights in the center console are the idiot lights that were in the stock
instrument cluster. Most of those will be put back in the cluster before
the interior gets modified.

Who built the motor? Painters? G&G (they did the long block in mine).
Are you going to put the interior back to stock? You can probably find some of the pricier parts at the upcoming Carquip swap in February (guages, center console, etc)
I have a black backpad that is nearly perfect as well.
75boxster
Jan 6 2004, 06:49 PM
It was Painters that helped me out with the motor. I have yet to run the motor
but I cannot say enough positive things about the people down there. Everyone
there was a class act. The customer service was awesome. As far as the auction
in February, where can I find out when exactly and where. I plan on just upolstering
the door panel. With the power window buttons and power mirror adjustment switch
I am thinking the thin factory coverings minght not hold up so well. Dash will get the stock
vinyl treatment and I will decide on the center consle when I see how it looks with everything else done. The Recaro bolsters really hang over the storage bin between them so either way I will need to keep that custom piece as is, maybe it get covered.

Although I can never get an accurate digital photo of mine. It tones the color down for some reason.

Paint Code is unknown, there's no longer and sitckers near the doorjambs. I'd say the other listers are right on the color though.
It was re-shot once in its life - near perfect match. It is a good 20 foot job (or on a digital pic!) Probably when it was fixed from accident damage (!!) I just finished pulling the interior and found the firewall wrinkled a little on the left side. Repair was done well, I missed it on first inspection. Rust isn't bad. Standard battery tray (it was basically GONE!) and some underneath the sound deadener in the passenger seat, caused from a leaky rear window.
Door mirror has a ding in it that I'd like to swap out, but I can't seem to find any on Ebay. Anyone out there got one? PM me, please!!
Chris H.
Jan 12 2004, 08:36 PM
Well if that's the original color then your paint code is most likely L50C, Laguna Blue. Rick (Kafermeister) and I also have '75s that are the same color. Unfortunately I have tried to capture the color in a pic but it always comes out too dull and light. See what I mean? Anyway welcome to the Club! I'm sure someone here has a mirror they want to sell.

Stickers or a plate? I see alot of cars where the stickers were removed. If the plate is still there, you may still have the paint code. IIRC, the paint code is on a plate in the *front* of the drivers door jam. If the plate is there, it's approximately 1"x1". It will have two numbers stamped on it. The top number will be about 5 digits if I remember correctly. The bottom number will have letters in it. That's the paint code.
Nice looking ride BTW.

I have all of them but the front left. A fellow lister (Thanks Bruce) has stepped up and has one on a part car. I've been slow getting back to him with pointers on on how to cut it off without destroying it or I would probably already have it in my possession by now.

Here are pictures of our's in evolution/destruction:
Purchased in Maine 1998 with 38K original miles. Rebuilt by PO's mechanic (unfortunately with a deranged mind). The boys and I removed all identifiable rust the first winter. Changes: suspension: composite bushing all arround, 23mm weiltmiester sway bar up front, none in rear, steering elevated, front lowered, rear koni adjustable and 180 springs. Wheel bearings all arround. Brakes: BMW320i up front with metal pads all arround. Replaced fuel lines, moved fuel pump up front, finally got the rear trunk springs in place(new technique), Roll cage right after buying(driving next to a Buick and seeing tires at head level!!), just placed fiberglass (Rennspd) flares 7" & 9" on. Motor at Mini Performance for 96mm x 78mm conversion. Boys can't decide on final color (Gunmetal gray vs Midnight blue). Suggestions?
God's Blessings,
