And now, the 1970 914-6. It's got a 3.0SC motor with what I think are the original rebuilt Webers fitted.
Some of you may have seen this car for sale on eBay recently. I was able to see it in person, and after the auction buyer backed out I picked it up for $10k. Good news, the body is amazingly sound, surface rust but no rot to speak of. New Brembo GT brakes up front, old front calipers moved to rear, and bright green Bilsteins up front.
Bad news, it's got what my mechanic thinks is a Motor Meister engine that's not doing so great. It's running well after a valve adjustment, but there's enough of a problem with the rings that if I gun the motor from a standing start I'm likely to spray oil out of the breather and into the engine bay. Grrrr...
Click to view attachmentI am not a strict preservationist, and I like the look of these steel slant fenders. The tires above (225s in back) have been replaced with 205/55 AVS ES100s all around on the 16x6 and 16x7 Fuchs from an 86 Carrera shown, and so far (two days) are clearing the rolled fender lips. I wouldn't rule out a rounded rear flare, maybe using steel SC front flares.
