I have a new favorite color. smilie_pokal.gif
You just need a rear valance on that puppy to complete the package.

This looks really sharp

Looks like the rear valance would be a project if you planned on keeping that muffler / exhaust tip set up.

I agree with the crowd. Very sharp set up. Gets my vote!

My rather.... crispy parts car (engine donor!) has that same exhaust setup, and the PO has absolutely mangled what looked to be a decent rear valance to make it work.

It came with a valance, but I removed it along with the SuperTrap muffler. As was mentioned above, you would practically have to mangle the valance to get it to fit this car now.

The last time that I saw a 4 tip exhaust like yours it was on my 1971 vw microbus.

I could imagine some fiberglass spoiler type of rear valances that might work but not the oem steel one. A muffler & tail pipe swap might be easier.

Whatever you do I am sure that it will look nice as your work so far looks top notch.
Good luck.

I have that exhaust and a stock valance and it works fine. confused24.gif

JMKnight,
Looks nice! The 'original' sixes are now worth big bucks. Keep it stock!

Ok I will. I have the urge to change it out of my system now, took a while though.

Got the parts car home on the weekend. What an absolute shame, it was a 3 day old resto.

Luckily the firewall did its job and everything behind the passenger compartment is fine, with the exception of the rain tray.
rjames
Yikes. Fire damage? Usually they occur in the engine compartment. What happened?

OMG I got really sick after seeing what was under that tarp.
Fuel lines?

Apparently it was vandalism... I guess the guy who owned the shop which did most of the resto work had upset a few local people. This is the story I'm getting at least.

After I've stripped it I'm going to give it to Mike at Mike's 914s, the rear end of this thing is perfect and I'm sure he can use it to save another 914.

Been a while since I've posted in this thread.

Here's the old 'BB' the morning of it's inaugural journey with the new drive train. Took this shot just prior to leaving for the Lake Havasu 2012 Route-66 Run.

It's a '75 with '71 bumpers, ATS wheels with Michelin 195/60x15s, new calipers and M/C, S/S fuel lines, fresh Type-4-Unleashed 2056 with Weber 40IDFs and CSP throttle linkage, VJR4-BR8 dizzy with Pertronix, mated to a freshly rebuilt THOMAS transaxle, SSI H/Es and a Triad muffler.

It ran pretty good on it's 'maiden voyage', but still needs a little fine-tuning jetting work on the carbs and the front suspension rebuilt.

Hi, here is my '75 1.8 F.I. acquired last Aug. 2011. A few history of this car, got from my nearby neighbor sitting on his drive way with Non-op with last registration of 2003. We just pushed the car from previous owner house to my house about a quarter mile. Bought new battery, remove the gas tank and amazing the left gas I drained is clean and no rust on the tank, changed all fuel lines underneath the tank (still original rubber fuel lines), replaced all fuel lines along engine and all vacuum lines, changed oil and transmission fluid, changed tires from 165x15 (I believed still the original tires made from Brazil tire) to 185x65x15. I had a hard time starting it until after more trials of starting it, it did start. So did checked and replaced brake pads and some cleaning on the pedals. Still a little bit sticky on the brake pedal. Now I've been using it once in while and running it for about 30 to 40 minutes drive, the temperature does not even go half way of the temp gauge. Still a lot of things to fix on this car but I love driving it even without the 1st gear (issue on the transmission which they said is common on 914).

If you're having a hard time getting first, check the shifter bushings (one at the firewall, the other at the rear shift console) - replace as needed.

If they're OK, try adjusting the linkage.

Hi sir, I did replaced all the bushings and tried adjusting linkage from stick shift and still 1st gear just make rumbling sound and pops out while releasing the clutch.

It sounds like it's still not adjusted right. Bring it to the G&R swap meet and we'll see if we can assemble a crack team of scientists to fix it party.gif

Sir, what is G&R swap meet? is it a group of 914s?

Sir, what is G&R swap meet? is it a group of 914s?
Well, in a nutshell - yes. The G&R is a semi-annual gathering of 914 nuts enthusiasts, sponsored by 'G' (Glenn), and 'R' (Ron), consisting of a swap meet and an awesome BBQ. Lots of good, knowledgeable folks attend the event(s).

There happens to be one coming up Sunday, May 6th. If you're free that day, try to attend. Click here for details.

And please, quit referring to me as 'Sir' ... makes me feel like an older fart than I am laugh.gif

Wow it would be nice to attend this and I really would love too! But sunday is my family church service and my wife and I has different ministry that we are doing for our church. Just wondering, do you know about the 914 group that meets every 3rd saturday of the month at the Orange City, CA? Take care!
