Hi all!

Well, this is my first 914. I decided that I had to join the "in" crowd at work with their 99x based 911's... However I can't do anything normal.

So, I found this. Jim Traverse built 914 Hybrid conversion Twin Turbo V8.

Just offloaded it off the truck this weekend, starting to get to know the car. This car was published in Porsche & VW magazine in 1986. I hope to restore the car back to that condition.

At any rate. I'm excited. Look forward to many years w/ the car.

Probably so. Sorting out the minor stuff, then going to track at Mid Ohio on August 9th. We'll see what lap times are like at 8/10ths.

I didn't really like the wing at first either. Thought I would take off However;

The wing is built well. It's tied to the subframe, and transmission with Indycar style heim joins for angle of attack adjustment. It's very functional and has very substantial ribbing. It's not a laxidasical tied to the trunk or body sheetmetal drag-inducer that your normally see.

Also, I figured out the incidence and angle of attack matter. Without the wing it's very easy to spin the wheels in 3-4th gear on the highway.

Great looking car. But how did your '70 come to have front bumperettes from a '73-'74?

1974 / 1.8L - Picked it up about a month ago. Looks to be mostly original. Drove it around the rural backroads of NC. Very fun!

Local North San Diego County car seen on the area roads for years. Beginning to look a little rough around the edges but is evidently a reliable daily driver for the owner.

First picture taken in December, 2011. Second picture in July, 2013.

Info added to VIN database.

These have been sitting in a driveway for over 25 years. I have never seen them move. Very sad to see such nice cars waste away. 74 2.0s both. Sorry, no Vin Numbers. I am to chicken to get close.

Here's my Marathon Blue Metalic 73 1.7. Yes it's baby blue right now, but the original paint was Marathon. I picked it up this Spring from someone local selling it on craigslist. Sadly, it has been re-painted twice and now has three coats of paint on it sad.gif

Anyways, can't wait to start some serious work on it. Here are just a few highlights but if you're reallly obsessed you can click on the link at the bottom of the post to watch the entire slideshow of 94 pictures (overkill? confused24.gif)

Enjoy!
