hey tony, nord wanted to host the baker run this week end to begin with, then mike suggested we run something over your way, so i proposed that we run hurricane next weekend the 9th. will you be in town, does this work for you?

just trying to fit as much in the good weather window that we can before the rain starts for 7 months!

mike do you know of a good route for fall colors drive down south? maybe you could head up that and the next good weather week end we'll hit that.

Just adjusted the valves, points plugs I'm having trouble with the dwell & timing.

It's like she is running lean & hot...

Any advice?

set dwell then set timing.

are you using a dwell meter or are you setting them by gap?

I just talked to him, he's using a dwell meter.

did he find the right timing mark.... the one you have to use a mirror to see?

oh no!!!

good news and bad news.....

i think i found my no start with the key problem... i fiddled with the connections at the reley board and now she starts every time!!!!

thats the good news....

the bad news....


i now have a pretty bad lifter knock that does not change from pulling plug wires, looks like i either bent a push rod or [most likely] droping a valve seat .

well i'll have to drop the engine and do all the things that i was saving to do at once, clean and reseal, back date H/E change all vac and F/I hoses.

and find out if i have a bad head or not!!!

i might be looking for a good used 1.8 head.

before you guys start flaming about using a used head let me remind you all that there is no way i can afford new or rebuilt heads.... no way, no how right now

a nice quit day off.

coming down i was running 6k rpm thru the hairpins. i think i just got the heads hot and when i stopped at the resturant the head cooled down enough that when i left the seat started to drop. it wasn't making any noise when i restarted at the resturant but when i stopped to get Lilli it was making lifter noise pretty bad. like a collasped hyd lifter. i was hoping it was just hot thin oil and would stop when the oil and engine cooled down.

That sucks Troy! It was running strong today too. shoot me a message if you want or need help tearing it down. I still have a LOT to learn about these cars!

On a side note, anyone want to go to the Everett Silvertips / Portland Winterhawks game Wednesday? Wife can't go and I have 2 good tickets!

I'm in for the 9th !!! The weather looks like it will be good-OK for next week, I will cancel golf and make it a Teener weekend. We can 1- Hurricane ridge, 2-Cresent lake- Cresent beach, 3-La Push, 4-Hwy 112 to Neah Bay, 5 Hood canal to Hoodsport and round to bremerton, 6-alll the above.

Troy maybe as you source a new head, adding some sway bars so the car

won't lean as much causing the oil to wash out of the pickup sump. I've

followed you before and seen how much roll the car has.

at the top of Artist Point there was a Austin Healy club all lined up so we

parked infront of them. I don't know how to post Pictures

What a great start to a great drive!

Looks like a great time, Just want to follow up to see who's up for doing it all over again this week end. Troy mentioned a Hurricane ridge run on Saturday 9th. I have no problem hosting a BBQ and beverages. Troy can ride shot gun in my car, if his car isn't fixed. Let me know who's in, I know it may be too soon after the Baker run but you guys sparked an urge to get out.

it doesn't look like any one is in to the hurricane ridge run for this week end, and i should use the free week end to go and get a donor motor and drop mine and assess the damage.
