I’m thinking it time for another gathering.
Tag YOU’RE IT.
Would be in this time if I'm around. Traveling again from 11/3 - 11/15, else it looks good. Finally got around and did some work in the BB and it's running, drove it a few time already.

There may be a new 914 coming to the NW
I heard rumors at the last autocross. Are you going to be able to come and play with me in GT1 next season? Would be lots of fun.
@playswithcars not sure, car needs a few items before it is autocross ready, but maybe.

Come join me this Thursday for Pints Against Polio at Brewmaster's Taproom in Renton. It's World Polio Day and for every beer you buy, $1.00 will be donated toward eradicating polio. Thanks to our partners, Bill and Melinda Gates all the funds raised will be matched. Every dollar turns into three!
Julie and I are planning to be there at 5:00, but if you wanted to start drinking sooner, don't wait for us.

I should have given you more notice but better late than never...
Tonight there is a party at Porsche of Tacoma from 7-10 to introduce the new 992. I’m guessing there will be plenty of food and drinks to go around and I’ll be there but maybe not till 10. That’s past my bed time.

Anyone interested in attending the NW Toy Run on Sunday Dec !st? This year the goal is 4,500 cars. Your only cost is a $5.00 toy or the cash. Starts at 11:00 at Pacific Raceways. Maybe we could grab breakfast that morning and go as a group.

Why not just buy a new set?
Mostly budget reasons, I’m doing a first time air cooled type 4 build and plan on doing a top end on the 1.8 that’s currently in the car. I have a new set for that build a 1911. I also have another short block built up with a webcam 86 for another 1911. I have a set of dellorto 36’s that need going through that I’ll use. I’ve built other engines in the past this is my first try at air cooled engines. Eventually I want to build a 2056 and run an L jet.

Sounds fun! I am also starting to look at going through some engine work as I think I just lost a lobe on my cam a couple weeks ago. Luckily it held together through the summer for all the local tours and events.

Our PCA region is hosting a tech session on Jan 25 from 9-12 on radar detectors and jammers. The members can invite guests to join in. This will be 2 hours of class and an hour of hands on work with equipment. I’m signed up but I can still add some guests. If you’d like to come along let me know. It will be held in Kirkland.

This Saturday Pacific Raceways is having a open house with donuts from 9-12. It the driving school that is actually putting it on. Rain will likely slow down the attendance but I may try to get there. I need to warm up the oil in my car anyways.

hey guys - i received this from LeMay - here you go - this vote is today 2/10/20!!!
Classic car tabs increase
The Department of Licensing is introducing House Bill 2373 (HB2373) in the House Transportation Committee. This bill will require you to register (pay tabs) on your collector cars every five years rather than only once per lifetime of current owner. This bill will significantly increase the cost of your collector cars tabs, this bill will pass without you voicing your objection to this increase. The vote takes place on Monday, February 10th and they need to hear from you ASAP. Please contact as many of the committee members and let them know to vote NO on HB2373. Here is a link to the committee directory and a link to the proposed change in the bill.
Please be brief, direct, and polite when leaving a message. You are free to use your own words or try a variation of the following script:
Hello my name is [Name], I'm contacting you to request that you vote NO on House Bill 2373 that require classic cars to be registered every five years, rather than only once per lifetime of current owner. Classic cars are rarely driven and this is an unfair burden to those of us that only take the cars out for a drive a few times a year. Thank you.

as did I:
Hello I'm contacting you after learning of the existence of House Bill 2373.
I am significantly alarmed & concerned after reading the bill.
First it provides no causation for the bills existence, what problem is it trying to solve?
From the notes in the bill it seems there is still unknown impact from this legislation due to its very narrow audience?
As a business that caters to this audience and as an owner of several of such vehicles to be impacted, I do not see the reason to waste legislative focus on this bill and would request that you oppose any committee furtherance or vote NO on House Bill 2373. Classic cars (those defined as being over 30 yrs old!) are rarity on the roads due to their value & are infrequently driven. This is an unfair burden to those of us enjoy this hobby & moreover those of us small business that support this collector segment.
Thank you.
