hey guys - rich at 914 werk helped me out (again) and my 914 is really running great - i'm always up for drives, so a few months ago, i re-upped with the local pnwr/pca, as they are now doing drives all year long - pretty much the same guys for the last 20+ years, but their porsche's get newer each year - i did most of their drive today - one 993 and the rest were water cooled - as is often the case, the old porsches get all of the attention from the public, much to the consternation of the new porsche owners . . .

How big was the group. I heard there were 72 registered but I’m out of town so I missed it.

Friday at 11:00 come to Twin Peaks in Tukwila. I’ll be there with one other p car friend. Don’t bring your wife or you’ll have some explaining to do. I don’t car what car you drive. I won’t be looking at cars.

hey! it looks like these pca/pnwr tours get fully registered on the 1st day available on motorsport.reg - so you have to be quick - then closer to the date, a bunch of folks will cancel, and they take folks off the wait list - hope this helps

Anyone know of a good metal/welding guy in the Bellingham to Seattle area? Need some metal replaced in the hellhole area. Nothing rusty, I took care of that years ago. Thanks!

Nice TJ Troy! Michelle still has her's, all stock though.

TC will be in town next week and I’d like to organize a little get together so we can all meet him. Take a look at your schedule and let’s figure out a date and time. I was thinking of doin hb it at Twin Peaks in Tukwila. They have an outside area with heaters and it’s got a room and it’s like being inside. They check for vaccinations so if that’s a problem for you speak up.

Lunch? Dinner? Just drinks and snacks? What works for you?
PanelBilly
Little update. TC didn’t get to come to Seattle and with this white stuff falling everywhere I’m not inclined to meet up. We need to find a time and place but it might not be for another month.
rhodyguy
When heaters are not required for outdoor dining might work best. Cold pancakes suck.

@sportlicherFaher -- Hey Jim!!! What car were you with? I was in the slate blue 911sc next to Billy's stand

Unfortunately, I was in a dealer loaner. Otherwise I would have been in my "hotrod" TDI Golf. Slowly chipping away at my engine rebuild. Hope to have the 914 on the road within the next month or so.

Was the SC yours, or just riding along?

Sweet! Yeah, the 1983 is mine.
We have a 1973 914 we've been working on and hope to have on the road soon too --- summer should be fun!

I came home and finished up the locks. Started the car and let the oil warm up. Got the windshield pulled and worked on bending the chrome trim to fit better. Need to get a hand putting the glass back in. I want to put it in straight this time.
rhodyguy
Billy. For setting the windshield, look for something like Wood's Powr-grip suction tools at your local tool rental. The ones for curved surfaces. You and Julie could set the glass with a pair of them.

Hi Billy. I'd be happy to help you with that chore. I helped the body shop do the replacement on my LE. I have some of the chrome parts and clips if you need them.

Anybody local have a set of 2.0 STD rod bearings? I ordered a set of Kolbenschmidt from Pelican, but they won't ship for more than a week.

Sounds like the hotel is pretty much booked up for WCR. Might be one room left in the main hotel, and a second hotel is getting lined up.

Starting to formulate ideas for heading south as a group down the coast, splitting the trip into two days. Leaving Wednesday to go down, and a similar deal coming back north leaving Sunday. Will probably start a separate planning thread when I get some stuff more solid. driving.gif

Looking forward to attending some local events in my 914 this year.

We need to plan an event for the locals.

Would be great to get back to a semi-regular meet-up. Maybe move it around a bit north and south to get more of us out. Traffic has turned into a N/S nightmare compared to how it was when Troy kicked this thread off.

Cannot occupy garage without railing.

Anyone have a local fabricator that can make railing for stairs and a small loft?

Thanks… just thought I’d ask smile.gif

I just used Iron Design Center for a long sweeping railing for my church.
I chased down quite a few folks and they were the quickest and most most cost effective.

But obviously, it may vary based on your application

Saw a 914 at Griot's this morning. Turns out it's Rocky's old car from Gig Harbor that went to Hawaii and back. Sounds like it will be listed soon at Premium Motors in Tacoma. The owner(?) at the dealer just bought it a week ago. Very nice Nepal Orange '75 1.8 that I was too busy drooling over to bother taking pictures.

Also, Sunday the 11th is the PCA day at XXX Drive-in at 11am. I'll be on odd shifts at work and will miss it, but just wanted to throw out the reminder.

PCA Breakfast at the Anderson School House McMenamins location on the 16th at 9am if anyone is interested in that as well.

I love the color. I had an orange one, not nearly as nice, when I was young.

Driving our 914 more and more and really wanting to attend some of the local events. Pulled the seats to have them redone by a local guy. So the 914 is down for a few weeks. But soon! We'll be out there at some events!

The orange 914 looks amazing.

How do you guys feel about driving your 914s in the rain?

I usually drive a beat up Miata on days like today, since it's disposable and the heater/defogger work. To accommodate a motorcycle, I may have to decrement my car count by one, which would make the 914 my regular driver. (Or I'd have to give up the 914.)

Is anyone else doing this? I rarely see 914s on the road even on nice days.

I have a 73 1.7 that is rusted and paint good from 100 yards, but still uncomfortable driving in the rain because it is hard to see us on the road.
98101
So it's looking like I won't have to sell the 914 (or the Miata) since I can squeeze the bike into the same parking space.

Try this with a Panamera!
