To check the fog light positions, I mounted the grills in the bumper. New repro grills from 914 Rubber.
bkrantz
To make the speed nuts fit better, I trimmed the corners off the front plates.
bkrantz
Grills mounted.
bkrantz
Here's all the hardware, old and new.
bkrantz
And the bumper top, mounted with new rubber spacer washers.
bkrantz
Bumper bolts and spacers ready.
bkrantz
Here's the bumper bolted in place.
bkrantz
The fit looks pretty good, which makes me happy since the right side is where I pulled the outer fender, spliced in part of the inner fender and headlight box, and reconstructed the front panel.
bkrantz
Top view, left side.
bkrantz
And top view, right side. I might shave a few mm off the rubber spacer to draw the bumper in just a bit.
bkrantz
New special speed nuts to fit the rectangular holes in the bumper.
bkrantz
In place.
bkrantz
Front plate bracket, powder-coated.
bkrantz
Installed, and ready for a future plate.
bkrantz
Then I got out the rear bumper.
bkrantz
And the original (?) bumper top.
bkrantz
After I cleaned and treated the top, bolted it to the bumper with new spacer washers, I installed the bumper on the car. Now to deal with the license plate bracket and lights.
bkrantz
Plate bracket, also powder-coated.
bkrantz
Bracket and lights installed.
bkrantz
One more detail.
bkrantz
Done!
bkrantz
I can't resist a few glamour shots.
bkrantz
Looks more like a 914.
bkrantz
High angle shot.
bkrantz
One more.
bkrantz
The last thing I did today was replace all the fuses with new ones, plus a new cover.
bkrantz
Ready for real volts.

I got an assortment of retaining rings, hoping one size would work for the targa latches.
bkrantz
Best fit are 6 mm.
bkrantz
I bolted on the latches.
bkrantz
And then installed the targa top pad. This has a few cracks, but will do for now.
bkrantz
I then got out the targa side weatherstrips.
bkrantz
Pretty easy to install. This was my initial attempt, which was a bit too high. I tried a second time, and left it sticking up just a little bit.
bkrantz
More weatherstrip, here the bulkhead top seal (one of two).
bkrantz
One in the frunk.
bkrantz
And one in the trunk.
bkrantz
Speaking of the frunk, I got out the perimeter seal.
bkrantz
I installed this without any adhesive, so it can come out for cleaning the channel.
bkrantz
Here's the trunk seal.
bkrantz
Also an easy installation.

Getting there Brother.
Looking great.
bkrantz
More weatherstrip fun today, getting the front targa top seals installed. This is now my (not so) favorite tool.
bkrantz
Before installing either strip, I had to deal with the edge of the top pad, which is a bit mangled in places.
bkrantz
Time again to dip into my lifetime supply of contact cement.
bkrantz
I was able to get most of the edge glued, and also the "pads" where the front latches attach.
bkrantz
I started on the left corner, and trimmed the metal tab to fit the shape of the indentation in the 914Rubber molding.
bkrantz
Here's the recess, not quite rectangular.
bkrantz
First attempt: almost. I started near the top of the straight section, and then worked into the upper curve. Note that the molding as-is prevents the outer edge of the trim piece to seat.
