Yep...depending on how much I lower the car. These particular Gurneys are actually a VW offset, so they push the wheels out farther than normal. Got the wheels & tires super cheap, so it might not be the final option. If needed, I'd rather switch out the wheels than roll the fenders.
Compared to the top refurb I did today, your work is quite impressive...... New rubber and SS screws + paint and new headliner install does not compare to the beautiful bodywork and primer in your pix / Nice!!

New feet for #41 off to PMB for install. 7 and 8 in 16s with RS finish and 6 x 16 with a matching RS finish and primo 16 Space Saver. Eric will work out what shoes to use for the 16in.

Some day I will do that as well.. Those wheels look great.. Tire selection is so limited I opted for the paint set up.. Until I decide what I want to do. Click to view attachment

bought a new windshield from porsche. drove exceptionally carefully on the way home.
the old one came out quite easily and the residue from the butyl tape wiped off with panel wipe.
couldn't get the new tape until tomorrow so a couple of little jobs done. touched up some installation chips on the rocker covers, found out the the trunk wouldnt close as the hinge was catching on a nut. likely a po put the hinge bracket on a little low.
fitted the rear lights, left the old lenses on until i finished sanding/polishing the trunk lid.
hopefully will be able to get a 4 wheel alignment next week, then i can drive it on the roads while i sort the remaining little things out.

Started the '73 after it had been sitting for nearly 2 months... felt good driving it around the block but with temps nearly 110 it won't get driven much for a while!! My '71 is being delivered by way of Reliable tomorrow morning to AZ from IA... look forward to having them together. Hopefully they'll mate...

Starting to dig in on my late 80s Corvette engine that I am going to hot profile cam and trick rockers and Holly FI.
Bought a stand and next is pulling off the aluminum heads as some grinding is necessary to clear for the new hotter valve geometry. If I stay stock in size it should put out 400 FT LB if I bore and stroke to 383 it should put out a lot more. The Holly can handle 600 HP and the factory 930 LSD transmission can handle all of that.
I was told that this Engen is new everywhere and I will find out.
Ordered my John Langfelder book on building a hot stepping GM 8 and also bought a couple more on SBC building.
I have built a few 911s, a couple of 914-4s and more than a few motorcycles. It has been a long time. My thinking is screw it, I can do it.
Getting ready to mount on engine stand. When I bought it from an engine guy back east he said it was built for a hot rob guy and had a TPI injection and all accessories where powder coated in a chrome like finish. The clean pushrods and assembly have assembly grease on theme. Going in deeper.
It did not come with wiring for Eng. and I sold the TPI clean like new with powder coated bright finish on it for $400.

When I sold my 73 1.7FI project, this is how it was pick up. Scary since the car does not have good brake.
Had my starter rebuilt. Took a few minutes to figure out where that nut and bolt is in the engine compartment. Now it starts every time. Went for a ride at 6:15 this morning to beat the Southern California heat.Click to view attachment

I worked on the final layup on the carbon fiber back-pad.... quite an extended esoteric project but the mold is good to go and the first pull from it comes off tomorrow am after the evening cure. My goal is to have a nice back-pad of CF that will support sound deadening material on its backsides and allow for quick access to the 914-6 hatch on the unibody steel firewall (already installed) = Esoteric because once the Clewett crankfire ignition was installed, the need to check timing at the crank pulley became a thing of the past / The Clewett system is dead-on-balls-accurate.... an industry terrm....

Wired up the Honda ECU and all the new relays needed for the fuel pump and fans. Hopefully Friday night I can install the cooling hoses and test fire the motor. (Open headers of course)

Your Honor...that's a trick question...but the firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
Drove the '71 to a coffee group this AM and a lady pulls up next to me at a light and says she loves my 914 and that she lost hers in a flood in Pennsylvania. Asks if I'm a PCA member and probably would have kept talking but the light changed. She was in a RAV 4... nice to be noticed among all the new fancy stuff in Scottsdale!!

i prepped the window apperture with primer ready to fit the new windshield when the butyl tape arrives. i fitted the trim clips with a little panel adhesive in the hole to help prevent rust.
i also refurbed the Lecarra steering wheel, that's curing in readiness to refit tomorrow.
i also stripped the multiple layers of paint off the trunk latch, think i'm just going to some silver vht that i have left over.
My Cousin Vinny -- classic very funny comedy, and very well acted -- she won best supporting actress! I have watched it many times, enjoying it more each time

Started my 914 today. I've owned it for 2 years and it had not started in about 4 years prior to that when the previous owner had engine problems and parked it.
My "solution" was to pull the broken 2.0 Bus motor and install a 3.5 liter Honda V6
Now to clean up the wiring and the cooling system. Then put the suspension back on.
Alright Mike, You da man! You won't regret it. You just brought your 914 into the 21st Century. Can't wait to hear your reports on MPG, 0-60 and overall improved reliability. I'm really happy for you Mike. Kent

Installed Tangerine's firewall shift bearing, along with a bronze oilite bushing (from GPR) at the shift console. The old plastic bushing at the shift console, while it had relatively few miles on it, was very loose in the bore. The new bronze bushing was a snug fit, had to give it a few taps for it to seat, and now there is zero play.
Also checked rear caliper venting clearance because I couldn't remember if I had done so when I installed the rebuilt calipers last year.

That's awesome mike!!! sounds awesome. there is a guy in SC that has done a few Honda conversions i believe. that will be a nice quick car when you have it all ready to hit the road. How hard was the wiring to get done on that? that is the the thing that would keep me from doing this, i would not know how to start with that

Make sure the bushings in the shift linkage coupling are good as well.

The wiring was super simple , at a minimum it needs +12vdc (full time, 7.5amp) +12vdc (cranking only) +12vdc (ignition on, 25amp) Wire to the starter relay (ground wire for the coil)
Options are fan control, lights for alt. and oil light.
Wiring doesn't scare me, I'm having more problems with the cooling system layout than anything with the install (still confused on the overflow and expansion tank)

i had a bit of a crappy day. both trunk lid & bonnet have a mix of scratches and wierd texture look haze. not sure whats happened there.
clackety noise coming from driver side engine.
havent been able to get 4th & 5th geats dialled in yet
once again the motor factors messed me around, for the last time.
i took a break until the mrs came home, then things got better.
new windscreen fitted so easily. i am so glad i bought a new one and didn't stick with the chipped one.
the engine lid is also now on. for the first time since i've owned it the car is pretty much complete. cant wait to get the new rims out of the dining room and get them on the car.
i've decided to get out and drive it before the weather worsens. i'll then sort the niggles over winter.

255/250, however with bolt on factory parts it can get up to 300.
