Installed and lubricated front trunk cable. Fabricated a rear trunk pull cable and started it for 15 minutes , I figured I would start it one last time before the big boommm

I remember the day I did that. I ended up having Dr. Evil rebuild my stack, but I cleaned, painted and reassembled everything else. I would have had a go at it myself but I just didn't have the tools or clean space needed to do the job. (No garage) His price was just above buying all the special tools needed to do it. Now i beleive he has a tool loaner program.
Have fun with it!

When mine was torn apart, it was missing that large ball bearing
that is an adjustable bearing. if it not in spec i just add or remove air from it . seriously, if this rebuild works, i got 2 friends lined up for there trannys to be re-built. this project is taking tons of research i gotta say... pinion depth and backlash requiring the most research. i need a boogered diff if anyone has one . i need to make my pinion depth tool with it. unfortunately i will have to destroy it to make the tool.

I went for a drive and took my GoPro along to make a video. I really like the effect of the swirling trees on the engine cover shot.
Last time I drove the white car it started spitting and sputtering and the tach was going wild, barely made it home. So today I started going through the ignition system, found a half broken tach wire, and a loose connection between the points and condenser, changed out both and fixed the tach wire.....now it runs puuuurrrrfect
So I went for a drive.

I like the engine lid shot! Very creative and cool! What canyon is that? I'm partial to Latigo myself.

Tried my hand at surface rust removal on the '72. I never should have left this car sit outside, but that's another story all to it's own
Spent about an hour with a couple of small hand tools and some naval jelly to get this far
Installed the rear trunk shocks I got from Camp914 and bolted on the spoiler
please post some pics, I about to mount mine (spoiler)

Hey Noel,
Thanks for the compliment! The video was a solitary pursuit, but I might make another with a couple of friends, when we all do a Big Bear breakfast run. Happy holidays to you.
Shuie, can that tank be saved?

Hi Shui,
Do you want a tank for free? I believe it came from '72 or '73. If you want I can just it give to you. Since I got it for free from Beach914. (Thanks again to sir David: Beach914!). If you have time today, I'm home till 3pm today.
God Bless!

Drove mine for the first time, albeit only on my cul-de-sac. But it feels good to move it under its own power after 4.5 years! I'll spend most of tomorrow finalizing other things on the checklist as I move toward licensing it and really shaking it down...

This is the 2nd time I have done the CV's on my car. What a greasy PITA!

My daughter gave me a Ebay gift card for Christmas. I used it to purchase new front turn lenses and a new stock shifter knob. My old knob's face was cracked because I used to wear a ring on my right hand and I guess that is what caused the cracking? Free shipping! I like Free!

Well I didn't do much, but I thought about my 914 today. Made a list of goals for 2013 including waking it from its very cozy year long slumber, installing SS fuel lines and finally putting those damn sway bars in.

Took my nephew, Jeremy, on the New Year's Day run this AM. It was a little chilly, but he said he it was fun. He's ridden in the car before, but not a fast canyon run
Picked up a new HF 20 gal. parts washer this evening. Great sale price - $80. AND with a 25% New Year's Day discount coupon brought it down to only $60. Thanks to Joe (KaptKaos) for the heads up!
We did some more rust removal on the '72 yesterday. Almost done with the driver side

i started putting hershils gearbox back together. im waiting on the mashinest to finish my pinion depth tool...
i cant believe what it costs to overhaul these boxes. so a word of caution my brothers, when it starts grinding or making noise fix it ASAP! tranny parts are freaking expensive....

Here's a couple more pictures of hershils gearbox. I epoxied a huge neodymium magnet under the gear stack. This magnet will pick up particles down to one angstrom.
I am also converting his tail shifter into a side shifter. And being the CSOB that he is, i had to reuse the old nose cone. So it got chopped and plugged.
