No. Fender lips rolled. I have a set of 16"x 6" on all fours now, and spacers in front and rear, so the 7" should fit. Tires in now are 205/55 16, which were standard on this rims in a 911 according to my mechanic. His 73 911 has that exact set in it now. He's putting my tires on Friday !!!

Cool! I have a set of 4 16x7 Fuchs. I was thinking of trying 205/55/16's all the way around. I'm not sure how much massaging my rear fenders will need though. I plan to use spacers on the fronts but not sure how thick they need to be.

Those wheels look great!

I finally got around to getting started on the car.
Completely disassembling the car in prep for media blasting.
Going to have to take it down to bare metal to see what I've got under there.

Discovered some rust in the driver side rocker panel and around the headlight supports.

I'm going to need to buy all new lenses all the way around. Tail lenses are cracked. Passenger side fell apart as I pulled it off the car. Sweet!

So far so good! welder.gif

Ammo box center console? ... can't wait to see that popcorn[1].gif

Drove the 'BB' to my hand doctor's appt. this am - got some shots in the R. thumb. Apparently, I have a condition called trigger-finger (not the same thing as having an itchy trigger finger, kids) ar15.gif

'BB' needs a bath, bad ... but we're conserving H2o dry.gif

The glove box lock-set is installed in the lid of the ammo box and is keyed to my non-valet key (thanks to Jim H. for the wafer set to key it to..) and now I have fabricated my two hole cup holder - fabricated in light weight aircraft alloy - approved by Larmo as to welding quality... Bitch! - and soon off to the powder coater for a coat of satin black after a bead blast to even things out.

It is so subtle in fact, and nicely situated between the two seats that only a few saw it at the swap meet last weekend... or could give a hoot... my goal precisely...

As Closeeau said: The crooks never sleep and neither does Closeeau!

No real work on the 914, I did get some parts back from zinc plating, including some 911 front hub* grease caps..one of the caps is little more beat up than I'd like, but I didn't have time to do any metal work on it before sending the stuff off.

Yellow zinc with and baked in the oven to get rid of any hydrogen entrapment.

Remove the pins from the connectors, might be able to use small metal pick to release the springs holding the pins inside the connector.

They are going to need some more work, I'm looking at Chris Foley's flares for the rear maybe. They had been rolled before (the lip) and that was not quite enough. These are 205/55-16- 7" rear 6" front. Tehy were rubbing just barely. I would have been better off with 195's oh well!

Drove the 'BB' to do some errands yesterday. While I was getting gas, a gentleman from Germany asked a bunch of questions. He remembers seeing 914s on the autobahn way back when, but never drove one himself. He also said he and his brother have both submitted resumes to the Porsche Experience Center in Carson drooley.gif - just a few miles away from here. Would be a nice gig if employees had access to free after-hours track time? idea.gif

Getting a pair of speaker housings from Mikey914's recent group buy (Thanks Mark! bye1.gif ) ready to go into the car. Scuffed them up, washed them down, degreased them, then hit them with some "wrinkle" paint. So far they look pretty good:

FWIW, they're much blacker than shown in the pictures.

They're curing in the back of one of my Volvo wagons as I'm typing this (it's like an oven in there). After that, they'll be filled with a pair of Rockford Fosgate R165X3s and hooked up to a more modern Sony unit (radio, CD, MP3, etc.). Maybe Terri will finally be able to hear the radio (I still prefer the Dellortos biggrin.gif )

I had to drop some 'thingies' off at the shop, so decided to stay a while longer when it started raining. I ordered a bunch of parts from the Sierra Madre Collection today. The had sent an email out back on July 14th., that had some really good deals on selected 356, 911/912 and 914 parts. Today, I finally looked at their offerings and was happy to find they had a lot of items I needed/wanted.

The total amount in my shopping cart (w/tax & shipping) was $897.65, but the actual total only came out to $320.77 when all the dust settled aktion035.gif

If you received their email and haven't looked at it, better hurry, the sale ends tomorrow (7/21) sad.gif

To order any of the sale items, you need to call the order in (discounts are not on the web site). Call (888) 986-4466

If you didn't receive their email, hurry up and shoot ma a PM with your email address - I'll forward the email so you can see the discounted price sale items.
