After 5 days of gas tank de-rusting through electrolysis the tank looks clean, extra time was needed for all the rust and removing the coating that failed.
Swish around a bunch of metal ready in the tank & rinse
Then onto the caswell 2 part epoxy tank sealer

It's FIX-IT DAY
1. Fixed a broken armrest on my favourite [but badly deteriorating] garage chair (what a CSOB)
Click to view attachment2. I leaned over to grab something out of the glove box and my home brew cup holder collapsed
Used larger diameter dowels this time + added two more in the middle. Secured them with screws instead of skinny little finish nails
Click to view attachment... and 3. Started repairing my dual-outlet valance

It was a rather busy day on the 914...
-Installed a wilwood brake proportioning valve (bled brakes about 3 times)
-Set rear caliper vent clearance.
-Cleaned/restored windshield wiper hardware (seals and such needed to be cleaned and polished
-Cleaned my old rubber rear trunk pad from the parts car. I was amazed I still actually had it. I don't ever remember pulling it from the parts car....
-Installed new targa latch cups in the rear trunk after melting holes in it for the battery cables to run through.
-Replaced tail light bulbs that were desperately in need of replacement, in preparation for the new set of tail light lenses.
That's it for today..

Flipped mine on its back like a turtle....
To fit floor pans and fix some of the other rust holes.
I will be holding the pans in with Chelecos (aviation, removable fasteners) untill I can get it on the bench to straighten before welding.
Looks like the easy way to fit a sittening kit.

Bled my brakes again, Fitted new wheel adaptors and rear wheels, Need to cut more clearance for the front hubs. Changed the oil, replaced my accelerator cable (because I had a new one laying around and didn't know the condition of the old one.) Cut my dash panel to accept the new head unit which is on the way with my handy Dremel I just got and worked on refreshing the top and getting ready to install a new head liner. Busy day but not as productive as I had hoped.

Adjusted the valves today. Haven't done it in a long time and it's still a pain in the ass. While it's on the lift, I discovered the front wheel bearings need adjusted, so that will have to wait till tomorrow. I discovered 0 valve lash on ALL valves today. I couldn't get even the thinnest feeler gauge to slide in. That can be done with my engine but I can't tell if it it's beyond 0 lash or not so I made them all about .004. Started it up and sounds good. The best part is no oil leaks. (So Far). Lookin' forward to the ride to Arizona soon.
Cheers, Elliot

Are you sure you don't have chrome moly push rods? They would be adjusted at zero lash.
If they're the stock aluminum rods,
.004 should be is OK if the temperatures don't get too high.
I recently read a couple of good articles on push rods:
