Still without a 914, that being said I will be in the market for one in the near future.

So to earn some 914 funds I have gotten offf my lazy rump and started to make some emblems again. Of course I’d probably be better off getting a part time at In-and-Out than dealing with the frustration I encounter in my garage shop.

I am in the market for a 2.7, please PM with details

Did the second A-arm bushing replacement using Ian's video. The first one took what felt like half a day, watching video, do, re-watch, re-do, etc. This one about 30 minutes. New Koni struts installed as well. Hopefully will finish getting the suspension that is substantially re-freshed by the weekend.

New bushings, new ball joints, new struts, new brake flex hoses, rebuilt steering rack with turbo tie rods.

Spend the last few weekends stripping it down and cleaning it up.

I'm going to sell it.

Going to charge by the pound or by the lightness?

Should be fun car for someone on the East Coast

The door latch cam on my driver's door broke, and the passenger side has always been hard to open. Also, one of my door handles had been painted black and the chrome was coming off the other.....so ...I pulled out both latching mechanisms, degreased/de-gunked them overnight, replaced both door latch cams, and sanded down the actual door handles themselves. Then applied 3M vinyl to matte them out. In the future, I'll probably powder coat them, but for the time being they'll do.

Then I drove it ......

First time in (20+) years my 914 was in a rain downpour on it's way home from a local Porsche (ArborMotion Ann Arbor, MI) shop. They did a complete maintenance & safety check since it's been sitting under cover since 2018. I charged up my old 8-year battery & when it started up had a miss fire in one cylinder plus needed an oil change. The Porsche Tech found a bad connection wire going to one fuel injector that fixed the problem. Everything went well and now I can get start having 914 fun. I cleaned it up and it still looks good after (20+) years of neglect pray.gif

The RAT Engen came back from PMB for me and Mark Sonners to take down to find out why it has a tick in it. Sounded like an exhaust leak but it had low oil pressure so we will find out. This was a Jake build not just RAT parts.

Best Bob B Burton

Is this your engine, or are you the engine builder?

This Eng was in Oscars blue 914 with the big Frog lights on it and flairs on it. Going into the 74 blue 2.0 that I had inside my shop for 12 years.

Mark Sonners and I are doing the work on this used RAT built eng. Trying to find out why there was oil starvation and the ticking sound. Who knows what the hell the ticking sounds is from. We are taking it down very slowly looking for witness marks. Some stuff doesn't look exactly right there's no wire to the thermostat flaps. We will post pictures and ask questions as we have a RAT Jake DVD

So, Mark delivered all the parts to the machinist, and I thought the rod felt weird on the piston closest to the oil pump. That oil pump was a RABY type 1 pump that the machinist said failed.

So here is a picture.

I just went out and started my 3.0 six that had sat for 8 weeks. Just turned the key and it started right up. No smoke just perfect. Now I have modern EFI but on a fresh Engen by PMB and its 70 outside. Because of my left shoulder I struggle with driving with 1.5 arms. Kind of a funny look. I use a speed knob on my daily driver till I get my shoulder rebuild later in the year for a second time.

This is the first time I took my 6 out by myself and it is tight and smooth. I need a linkage adjustment on the shifting.

Cleaned out the garage today with my wife and Albert my employee from 2007 on till covid. Set up to fit to two P- cars and organize the roll around racks. Trashed a bunch of stuff and need to take another pass at it and trash more stuff. When you are 70 you have a bunch of stuff in your garage and your shop. Been cleaning the shop up as well.

Moved fuel pump and filter below the steering rack so it is easier to change the fuel filter and not spill gas in the front trunk. Painted the chrome window trim, vent glass door pillar, and the door handles satin black. (VHT epoxy)Click to view attachment

Freezing it worked well for getting the last little bit with a hook tool. Some solvent with a wire brush took care of the rest. All pins are tight and all copper is intact. What have you guy’s used for repotting the back? I know there are products but has anyone found something as effective but less denaro? confused24.gif

So I decided to open up my front air inlet for my oil cooler to increase air flow on those hot hot days. So here is the result. Ben @MB911 modified a bumper I sourced from DrPhill @DRPHIL914 so the opening mirrored my valance opening.

I then sent it to a chrome shop that did a great job finishing the bumper and chroming it. I installed it today.

I can see I need to adjust my valance for a consistent reveal but I plan to have the front bumper off in October/November for some additional work where we will screen the opening and spray the exposed opening, now Irish Green, Satin Black, so I will address that then.

I think it came out nice; I also removed the 2 license plate bracket holes for a cleaner look. So here you go with a before, during and after picture:

Lol good eye. Apparently the chair and ottoman were created in the first month of production and was commissioned in red from the CEO of Coca-Cola, and I was fortunate to buy it from a dealer in NY. Also have a 50’s Florence Knoll 7’ low dresser that is amazing smile.gif
