It's good to get them started early, before they start liking SUV's and pick ups.

No offense to drivers of pick ups and SUVs. I'm just saying...

I sat on the side of the road with mine yesterday as the clutch cable snapped on my way back to work from lunch. Already ordered the heavy duty one from Patrick Motorsports so it should be on its way!

Drove the 'BB' to my auto shop class Wed night ... wanted to re-balance the front wheels - I lost the weights during spirited driving on the RT-66 run dry.gif

Also adjusted the clutch a few clicks and retarded the timing a couple of degrees.

Had enough time left-over to blast some parts for my 912 project (been sitting idle since 1988). Only had time to braze a broken heater cable tube and blast one of the head-pipe/heat exchangers.

Today, washed and dried it, then painted it with Rustoleum 2000° Rust Reformer paint. Hoping to get the other one blasted next week (shop class is only one night a week) dry.gif

Every little bit is a step forward shades.gif

Drove the '73 as far as it's gone since restoration... awaiting camber shims from Chris (Tangerine) as the back looks like a swing axle beetle suspension, but otherwise feels nice and tight. Next is gettting the headlights to work... someday it will be done, but have to get my eldest son married off next week!

Started to layout the 2 rear Genesis on-board airjacks.
I'll mill out some top brackets tomorrow, then final up the lower supports + weld in place. Click to view attachment

What color is that? It's a beautiful blue for sure. Enjoy your time with your daughter.

Yes I do enjoy my time with my two daughters a 9 and 7 yrs. old. I'm actually 24/7 taking care of them since they were born. I was not able to work as an employee since we have the 1st child.

Well the 75 1.8 914 I believed is a midnight blue, I got the car like that and even the previous owner is not sure what is the color code. That is why i can't repair some body paint since I dont have the color code. The car looks okay on a 20 feet distance.

Thank you and God Bless!

This is how it looks like from the previous owner's driveway.

Put mirrors on #269 and searched and searched the garage for my key set for #269

Remember putting everything in a ziplock bag, marking it 10 years ago....

Forgot I put the ziplock bag in a paper bag and put it in a bin with other parts from the disassembly....

Find the locket piratenanner.gif lay everything out and realized that I have been "hawked" bananabang.gif and realized bananabang.gif the door latches and trunk locks (and other parts) that were on the car when I inspected the car and agreed to purchase (locks functioned, general good condition abet some baby shit brown overspray) had been replaced with absolute garbage.. Post broken off, huge rust bubbles in chrome, lock cylinders had screwdriver punched to override... Absolutely no value in these locks, aside from key wafers, maybe....

Been finding bits and pieces that have been substituted/hawked out...

It's one thing to buy a car and swap out parts and then resell. 356 guys do that all the time, buy a $40k car, swap out the parts to improve the value of their car, and then resell the car.

But to inspect and agree to purchase and then have parts swapped after the agreement...

pirate.gif those that do so should be whip[1].gif and boom.gif

Sorry for the rant... But progress has been made!

I was finally able to score an additional roof for my car last week. Yesterday I installed a bike rack and kayak rack. The roof still needs to be painted, and after the drive home with both racks full I see that I also need to add some bracing across the inside of the roof for the kayak. But here are the pics, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Any yes, the kayak is longer that the 914.

That looks great!

Please update us on how it handles at speed.

I had two of those racks for my 1998 Dodge Durango, and two years ago (18 yrs old car) at about 50 mph the roof cross bar that the racks attached to broke off. Both yaks went flying. So how much extra securing do you do for the targa top to stay on he car?

Thanks. ABS rockers, the NACA duct came from RPW. I'll get the duct hose on tomorrow.

After the problems I had with low oil pressure I installed a pressure gauge in the engine bay. The oil pressure switch is also connected but will be replaces with a VDO sender so I can see the oil pressure whilst at the wheel

^^^^ So, I spend my hard-earned cash to finally buy some "proper" mirrors due to all the bitching, and now this????

Yesterday I was in a bicycle shop and saw some bicycle mirrors that I think may work well.

Moved into position... Was thinking about cutting the cage out of the Olympic Blue and install in the Diamond Silver... Now considering repairing the OB tub for the race car and hot rodding the DS for street. Hmmmm... Too many projects, not enough time or $$$.

I finished the placement of my thru-hood tank cap assembly by fine-tuning the alignment of the tank shims and then installed three-way 911-sounding air horns that actuall can be heard (just before one is squashed like a bug on the freeway......) two on the driver side and one trumpet on the passenger side.....

Yes Dave, it was Forest's design. You see Larmo was concerned about the dirt that accumulates beneath the tank so he asked our resident Welder , Forest, if he could design something to keep this area clean. It was then that Forest realized if he cut a big old hole in his hood the rain would run into, thru and beneath the tank (and a few related areas) thereby cleansing the area of concern. I hope this helped. beerchug.gif

Finished the last step in the oil cooler install by hooking up the hose from the NACA duct to the plenum I made for the cooler. Looking forward to giving it a decent run tomorrow, and putting it in a little traffic to see temps.

I took all the interior parts out this morning. That wasn't too difficult! I had the intention to remove 43 yrs of previous ownership from the carpets and seats!

I went to my local hardware store and found there a few industrial cleaning products for carpets and upholstery. And they did the job; they worked perfectly on my Teener's interior. The seats look like new, the carpets have changed from a brownish color into the original grey/black color. Sadly, the carpet piece that sits in front of the pedals has a hole in it. Oh well, not everything looks like new after so many years...

I've sanded the seat postitioning handles and put a new coat of shiny black paint on them. Tomorrow a second and third coat and they will look like new!

Went for a drive this evening. No more bad star issues since replacing the cap and rotor. Thought I had a bad set of f.i. trigger points. Any way car is running great except idle is a bit low , especially when hot after running for a while. And I don't seem to be able to effect the idle with ecumenical adjustment so I probably have to check the tips setting? I set it according to Rich's picture and I can say since putting this new tps in front Bruce Stone my acceleration has been perfectly smooth with no bucking .. so back to recheck in and fine tuning.

Installed the right side engine tin I picked up from Garold at Hershey. smile.gif Had to run a tap thru the heat exchanger, I guess it had been a while since any screw was in there. It's a 6mm x 1.0 thread.

So now that after all this work is done, and the car's running very well, I'm thinking it's near time to do a valve adjustment.

Looking for another property with a house for the Mrs. and a garage for the P-cars. We found a place that she likes, and a plus for me, it comes with a huge garage aktion035.gif

That is huge. Not tall enough for a lift, but very spacious.
euro911
With an 8' ceiling, can't get the full capacity of a 4-post, but then again I'm not that tall laugh.gif

If we buy the place, I could center the lift, open up the ceiling and re-frame the ceiling joists to allow for more headroom if need be confused24.gif

In addition, there's outdoor parking for about 20 more cars on the property blink.gif ... It's a car guy's heaven biggrin.gif
mgp4591
Not to be disparaging at all (after meeting you at WRC, you're a hoot to hang with!) you could probably get a smaller lift and get a good rolling work chair, low profile type and work just fine! I've used one under big trucks when the overhead clearance wasn't ideal and they work great. Nice shop though- you could even rent some space out!
Cuda911
Fixed the visors on my '73. The driver's side kept falling off, and the passenger side kept flopping down. All set now. smile.gif

Yeah, this year's WCR was a real blast party.gif

I have a mid-rise lift too, but I'll probably leave it here in CA - only plan to be out of state on & off about half the year anyway (mostly summer months).

Wife says we'll have to get rid of the shop we're currently leasing so we can afford it - no problem, we'll be thinning the herd a bit and more than half the cars will reside at the new place.

Hey Elliot, the municipal airport (PRC) is only 10 miles away poke.gif
