Some spray paint: I've blasted and painted the heater blower's housing. And I've tried to clean the hell hole. There's no rust, or worse. It's only a mess with sand, small pebbles trapped in the corner.

Finally have my new tires on the fuchs!

These are 205/55 16 on 6" wide 16j's. I have a 1/2 spacer on there and still have room. Bridgestone potenza RE-11.
Now I need my speedometer really calibrated. It's slow by 5 mph.
That's what I did today!!

Lookin' good Phil thumb3d.gif

Received the front LED turn signal kits from Jerry. Gonna install them in the 'BB' temporarily, they'll eventually find a permanent home in the '71 ('Howie').

These are great types. My wife's previous BMW had them. Far better than the current Michelins she has now on her car. When it's time to replace them, it's going to be Bridgestone again.

Cool toy. The size of the embossing looks about the same as my original key fobs.

installed some real nice early calipers i got from a member here. Also found some new rubber and copper brake lines from an old 71 vw bus rebuild i never used. Then installed them on the 914. fit perfect.

Today: blasted and painted Direct To Metal epoxy primer to engine bay from the seal up / color goes on thereafter / tank out and old plastic lines out / new SS fuel line and fuel pump from Tangerine when it gets here this week / new clutch cable from PP in today/ rebuilt all bushings and cones on side shift linkage conversion / the engine bay is looking more and more like my old 65 356 SC - twin Solex carbs standing tall. simple linkage to the accelerator pedal / direct response to the influx of fuel............ this is what the 914 is all about / no EPA, DOT, and no SPC914's.....

I drove my car around on errands when I got home from WORK. Oh, and I Windexed the windows on Speedy.

Drove it to the starting line at the Amgen Tour of California cycling race here in San Jose. I scored close parking in a tight parking space. The 914 was small enough to barely fit between two driveways where a regular modern car would have been too big. Nolan was able to get 25 time Tour de France stage winner, Mark Cavendish, to sign his cowbell before the start of today's stage.

Very cool! An autograph from the Manx Missile. aktion035.gif

I had a Ciocc racing frame that I had autographed by both Greg Lemond and the greatest of all time Eddy Merckx. Crashed it in a race in San Francisco. Stupid. I should have hung it up.

My 75 1.8 (original color-copper metallic too) but it was top coated with midnight blue. Anyway, my tires are falken 205x50x15 with outer tire lip too to protect the rim.

Took three out of four wheels off to get new tires put on. Fourth is still there...broke three wrenches trying to get the lug bolts off.

The socket tube thingy for fixing flats split.

Another tire iron I had laying around would not fit into the Riviera Mag wheels so I ground down the outside just a bit. It split too, once I applied the cheater bar.

Last resort was 19mm socket on my ratchet set. I knew I shouldn't put a cheater on a 1/2" ratchet, I did and it broke.

Tomorrow I will buy some better tools. I bought this 914 a few weeks go and don't think the wheels have been off in a while.

I originally was going with falkin but they didn't have the size tire I wanted in the 205/55-16
.but they had been recommended by one of the mechanics at the shop. He had them.on his BMW M3 and his Audi. The owner of the. Same place had the Bridgestone on his 911sc track car- same rims too.

Fixed the reverse lights (bad switch) and installed Spoke's rear LED lights. What a difference those make.

I would have thought so too, if not for the mis-matched tires all around...pretty sure that is not stock...nor a dealer option.

I initially tried to get new tires at Sam's Club - their computer didn't go back far enough for the 1970 914 so they said they could only put the same too-small size as are on it (take your pick) instead of what I wanted.

Expecting a box-o-parts from Parts Heaven today - mostly 912 motor parts though.

Started polishing the front bumper for the Ghia whilst waiting for some other parts to mount it.

Yesterday, painted some parts for the Ghia and a spare set of T-4 deflectors (Dupli-Color 500° stuff).

Here is a clear look from the seller picture ad last week. Moises have a running 75 copper metallic and 76 for parts car. A very nice guy, he even delivered to me yesterday the driver side after a minor repair done by his upholstery guy. I picked up the passenger side last week a few houses away from where I bought the 71 1.7 MS last sept. The seat has a different vertical pattern compare to original but I do like it since it has more ventilation on the seat and back.

I purchased some mirrors from another 914World member. The glass in one was broken, and the other wasn't in great condition (I knew that when I purchased them).

I disassembled the stems and cleaned up some internal corrosion, since they wouldn't swivel. Work perfectly now.

This afternoon I had a local glass shop cut me some new mirror glass. They look great! [Still not sure that they look better than '73 Mustang mirrors though.]

A set of mounting base gaskets are on order from 914 Rubber.

I picked up my powdercoated gas cap tube and mounted it to the spare filler surround in preparation H for the pucker punch thru the front hood..... I may have to rely on Larmo for the actual drilling as his experience in pucherage proved to be quite successful when he did his drilling.........

I was finally able to score an additional roof for my car last week. Yesterday I installed a bike rack and kayak rack. The roof still needs to be painted, and after the drive home with both racks full I see that I also need to add some bracing across the inside of the roof for the kayak. But here are the pics, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Any yes, the kayak is longer that the 914.

Not sure if I would trust those latches with all that weight, inertia, and aero drag.

It does look cool though.

Yeah, I am going to go back in and add bracing, tighten up the latches, and devise a better way to tie down the kayak. I don't plan on using both racks at the same time normally. This was just a way to get the toys to the house. It was only a 7 mile trip.

I worked on the car over the weekend. After 2 years of it being apart I finally got it started. Next steps, adjust clutch cable, get insurance and drive it again.
