Also getting ready for unStock. New tank, custom cut and sized to fit my strut towers. Old tank with fuel cell had a leaking bladder and since I've retired from racing decided to just go with a steel tank. I cut off the NLA fittings on the stock tank and had AN fittings welded on.

The Fuel Safe bladder used one of their fuel level senders and now I'm back to the stock sender but don't have a pin out on the wires. I have three wires green, brown, and black. Four terminals on the sender. Which goes where? Anyone?

Guessing the terminal with the jumper is chassis ground and the gold terminal is green wire. Brown and black to the other two terminals. Am I close?

That helped.....I think.
This is what I THINK I should do:

I'll wait to hook it up until after unStock. Hopefully another 914 will be there so that I can see which wires are in the various slots in the connector (Molex?).

While the rebuilt engine awaits on the stand, I had the rocker panels removed to see what's underneath there...and, was relieved to find it's all still very clean & rust free....I'm very happy about that! Jack posts have some protective primer on them that I applied over 30 years ago, and they're still very original & strong.

Then, we removed the old original dark factory coating from the wheel wells, including the entire underside belly. It's also very clean & rust free throughout....getting ready to have new protective coating applied.

Started it for the first time since Memorial Day (spent summer in MN, spent last two months recovering from herniated L3/4).

Car fired right up, and the 20+ mile check ride went well. Only the driver-side headlight was AWOL on the first try.

Next few days look good weather-wise.

Must be living right!

Not sure what we will get from a quality perspective.

Not to my 914, but for it. I brought home a new Aluma trailer. This will let me take the 914 to events--and bring my wife along. She drew the line at about an hour for 914 road trips. Too exciting, I guess.

That should tow great- you won't even know it's back there! I would suggest the front panel with or without a tire rack just to save the front of your car, especially after all the work you put into it!

@Stef914 - That is one of the best safety improvements you can make so fools don't turn left in front of you. Our cars are small and low and they need all of the help they can get to be seen. I typically drive with my parking lights on and my driving lights. (Yes, technically, that is a no-no.) beerchug.gif

Stripping the bed-liner from the trunk of our BB. The citrus stripper works if we leave it overnight with a bag covering.

So, I was supposed to get my full rotator cuff replacement on Friday. But because I had A little scab on my elbow. ( I hit it in a doorway 4 days before) They cancelled it. When I was in Pre Opt. I was ready to go into the operating room? Surgeon said if I got an infection anywhere on my body it would go right to the new shoulder and if I ended up that way, they would have to open me back up and remove the shoulder and I would be totally screwed. This was after waiting for almost a year for this. All tests to make sure that I was healthy enough at 70 to get this and a bunch of things needed around the house to live without my left arm for 5 weeks.

Good health to all my 914 brothers and sisters

Pulled the new /6 engine out after getting the shift rod and the oil lines organized. I have some odds and ends to clean up, trunk floor, strip the paint to prep for new paint, as we all know it never ends

Drove it for about an hour today after having newly refurbished PMB calipers installed at all four corners, along with my new Bluetooth 1-2-3 distributor and new coil.

Still in the "mushy pedal" stage of getting the new brakes worn in (although it was noticeably improved over the course of my drive today).

About ten minutes into the drive, I stopped and loaded a clone of the Bosch 050 curve into the distributor. Totally brought the engine to life. It felt like it was releasing some pent-up aggression. Made the next 45 minutes a lot of fun.

I am running an ancient Bosch 009, seems to be fine, pulls good, does everything it should, but when I see this I get interested in a 1 2 3 distr. How was the 050 curve different, low end pull, mid range pull?

I've only got "seat of the pants" to go by, but it felt like smoother power delivery throughout and more mid range power. But I've only known a carbed engine and it's always been a little lumpy - can't attest if it would make a similar difference with FI.
