We only got the final portion of the kitchen done today ... we watched the 'eggnogeration' and too much other crap on TV, then started back on the floor in the late afternoon
Tomorrow, we attack the pantry - got a lot of special cutting to do in there

Mending better for sure, thanks! I had another operation a week ago on the foot so no long periods standing and working on the car for me just a little longer. Good progress though considering - I'll post again when there's something significant... like a kitchen floor!

So far today I made up some plates to support the trunk struts. I've touched up a couple of chips with primer. The front wiring loom is neatly taped up and looks good.
Next o.n the list is to build the passenger door, fit the sun visors and remove the tape that I stupidly left on the inner trim when I primed the windscreen apperture and subsequently fitted the screen.

Tried to guess the dash wiring order, gave up due to lack of patience.
I did manage to locate what i have of the engine bay loom and fit the heat/sound barrier pad.
I also managed to figure out the rear lights wiring and wired up the left side light.
I also mopped & polished the passenger door and rear panel. Nearly forgot i also fitted the gas struts to the trunk.
More tomorrow.......

I made a start with the interior electrics today. In it for the long haul.
I got around to removing the fuel lines from the tunnel. Despite the car not being registered for 21 years and the tank was bone dry there was stale fuel in the lines and it stank!
Took the dashboard down to the shed to spray into primer as it's been bare metal for too long now.
Waiting for supplies and knowledge to carry on.

I rented a trailer to go pick up my 6 from the engine builder in the bowels of Los Angles tomorrow first thing. It is a 2 hour drive in traffic each way and it is a really hairy trip any time of day but especially at night.
I also went to the local ammo shop to buy a bag of wads for to energize the MEC 5 stage loader to crank out enough 12Ga ammo to make it back to Orange County after I pick up the motor...... I figure about 5 boxes of shells should do it....

Make sure you have no trump stickers on your car. Otherwise you will need more ammo.

OOOOOO Do we need to create a 914 cry room.
Steve is the most unpolitical apolitical person on the boards.
Lighten up please.
Motors are motors. Meatheads are meatheads. Steve drives a 914 6 that most will never drive, much less own.
A real source of good true info here.
Also. As to bumper stickers. I don't fly that flag.
I had a beautiful,.. donation earned Wounded Warrior's blanket,... on my passenger seat for Susan's participation in a ride in a heat-delete 914 / and some dipstick scratched to bare metal on two panels when we stopped for a coffee..
Such is the state of politics today. Leave it out.
914World has no Cry Room.
If it creates one on this forum, I'm out.
Done.

Lots of wiring examination in the cabin up to the fuse box. 2 broken connections and a melted wire fixed.
Cleaned the cabin area of dust, lots more than i thought. Got told off for using the house vacuum instead of the garage one
I sprayed the gauge face for the dash but the paint reacted, again. Back to bare metal and try again. I have the dash metal shell and fuse box panel to do aswell so might aswell do them all together.
More bits arriving tomorrow.

Just finished a laundry list of things for my six. I rebuilt the top end of the motor, added E cams and 30mm venturis to the carbs, fresh brake pads, new shift bushings, new stainless fuel lines from Tangerine, replaced old lap belts with stock seat belts, new rear shocks and a few other things. Now to get some break-in miles on the engine when the salt is off the roads!

Oil and filter change and tried out my new Bendpak scissors lift. I gotta figure out the proper working height and creeper/stool configuration. I was working off a creeper and the extra height was good but I was fighting the lift being in the way and spilled oil everywhere. It was better than jackstands just not $1800 better.

I'm helping my son paint his house down in San Clemente, and I hear something coming up the street that sounds exotic. You never know, I'm expecting a rice rocket, or motorcycle, I turn around to glance at what it is, and it's a 914! The guy goes by fast enough that I couldn't stop him to look at or talk to him. About 45 minutes later, I hear it again down the street. They had parked it. I hoof down there, and the guy says he autocrosses it. He has TWO 914s! His name is Sean, and he's new to the board too. It's pretty rare to see a 914 in our neck of the woods that you don't know the owner. Cool car:

My wife told me she recently started noticing a silver one down by the park where she walks the dogs, so we took the dogs for a walk in that direction today. Don't know if the owner is on World or not
... I'll stop by there some time in the near future and see if I can find and talk with the owner.

With the mrs help i tinted the back window. Looks a lot better that way imo.
Also lined the firewall and refitted the padding inside the roll bar.
In order for me to final fit the turn signal/side light buckets i had to underseal the inner wing around that area. That stuff is messy and stinks!
The seat bases have been painted and are now curing. Need to wait for the fibre glass kit to arrive so that the pad at the back of the seats can be repaired and refitted.
2 more dash gauges to strip and refurb then it's ont the last bit of dash wiring before carpet and seats go in.
Seems like i'm finally making progress.
Itching to start on the enine!
