I spent the day troubleshooting a start stall, start stall problem. I double checked everything from cut to fuel line configuration. Finally when I grabbed an old volvo MPS and plugged it in. Found it!
Freaking MPS.......the thing ran perfectly WTF.gif

Now on the hunt for a good 043 MPS
UPDATE: I bought a box of MPS's from a local guy.......Mostly 037's and 049's but low and behold there was a 043 in the box. Plugged it in and she purrrrrrrrrrrrrs.
I better accumulate a few more for the next failure. piratenanner.gif

Haven't driven the 'BB' for a few weeks now (since Rt-66). Need to install a new 'O' ring on the dizzy, and adjust the valves ... then start thinking about tearing into the front suspension rebuild idea.gif

Joe, the next time I'm down your way, I'll bring a pencil soldering iron to repair the power connector on the LM-1 ... or, bring it to the G&R confused24.gif

It was sooo damn nice today I gave my teener the once over. Changed the oil, detailed the interior, cleaned all the glass and dry washed the exterior. Then fiddled with an issue ive been having with my gas gauge blowing fuses and freaking out. Cheacked all the wiring/connectors. Tried a different gauge, same issue. Then pulled the sender, turned it upside down and didnt hear any movement from the mecanisim inside. Got a wd40 nozzle into one of the vent holes and gave a few quick shots of carb cleaner in it and the slider worked free. Installed it back in the tank and the gauge works again. Hopefully that's all it needed.

I have been waiting for about a year to put a Doc Evil Rebuilt Transaxle into my Sixer. Finally got warm last week and pulled everything off including the brakes, axles, transaxle, etc (replacing with 911 items along with Doc's transaxle).

You know Arizona is always warm since it is mostly desert???

Wrong!!!

Got everything removed and then an April Snow Storm hit Flagstaff and lasted a couple of days giving us about 6-8 inches. Started warming up again to the high 50's and most of the snow at the 7,000 level is gone. This week looks like it will be in the 60's and I can get out to the garage to complete my change over.

Ditto on Doc Evil's Richmond tranny clinic. I think I walked away the honor of needing the most parts - 3 synchro bands, 2 dog teeth, 1 slider, and a shaft bearing.

Had a good time, learned a few things, and brought my son to help out.

Replaced my points, Stalled a bit as I was driving yesterday. i checked my dwell, It was way off from what they were set to a few days ago.
As I tried to reset, by the time I do timing, it was off again.

Replaced them and ran great.

I installed my radio, door handles window roller, trunk lock and fuel gauge, then took it for a long 60 Miles round trip drive. Did I mention top-off?
I am pretty much done with my resto.

Mark, I have , the only thing stopping me is the fact that you can't leave the ingnition on if the engine is not running. With my luck, I will burn one every other day.

Yeah, I have the same fear and thinking about keeping a spare dizzy in the trunk, just in case.

My stereo system is wired through the ignition switch, but I'd like to listen to it without the engine running, so I may reconnect it to a constant voltage source.

However, in another vehicle, I've forgotten to turn 'stuff' off and woken up to a dead battery a few times headbang.gif

Maybe a better idea is to install a dash-mounted toggle switch in the ignition circuit. This would keep from powering up the Pertronix with the key in the 'on' position and the stereo would power off when I remove the key idea.gif

Anybody else think the factory should have installed an ignition switch with an accessory position? confused24.gif

Sorry to hear someones work being disregarded in such a fashion.
I remember somebody telling me that when a bird poops on your car that it is a sign of good luck.

WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP!
(pun intended.)

Hopefully it cured long enough prior to impact that you won't have to do a complete respray. Good luck.

Finally got to put my newly rebuilt transmission in! Rebut last week at scotty b's.
of course there was more to do!
- new shift bushings installed,
-cleaned and repainted the shift rod
-installed new 911sport transmission mounts!
-reattached the c.v's, new gaskets, grease etc.
-installed the repainted triad muffler.
-adjusted the shift alignment, clutch etc.

And enjoyed the fruit of my labor!, took my youngest on a daddy-daughter ride to the beach

Some pictures on the thread about 911 sport mounts.

Also- amazing the difference in shifting now! And a big "thanks" to Mike aka Dr. Evil.
I made the change in gears b doing the X gear for 4th and the flipped H gear for 5th.
I think I will be loving it!

New fuse panel, dual CHT gauge, oil change and valve adjustment. Have a CHT pickup under #1 & #3. It was 105F today in Phoenix and on the freeway #1 was 330F and #3 was 390F. I would not have guessed there would be that much difference between 1 & 3 temps.

I started going through ALL of my boxes of new and used ports, organizing and making my "to do" list so I can get back on board with this project!
