Well, I haven't updated in a while... Re-did my dash a while back with felt, and was really pleased with how it turned out. Also bit the bullet and bout a new set of wheels... I've had my black cookie cutters on for 4 years now, and wanted to upgrade.. I love the minilites.

I have also been thinking about minilites. I never really like they way looked on MGBs which I was into for many years, because they looked too sporty on them, but they do look right on 914s.

BTW, what size tires do you have on them?
'73-914kid
The wheels are 15x7, and the front tires are 205-50-15, and the rears are 225-50-15.

Transferred my windows off the 1973 tetanus victim to the 1970 Tub.
Had to fab some bracket areas. Smooth action Now....

Had to make a template off the new regulator. Then mark bolt holes on old door.
Open up handle winder hole diameter to 1-1/8". Scribe the bracket, cut and weld on.

After a year on the rotisserie, it's still on it, but I picked it up from the body shop today and brought it home.

Body shop still has the rockers, duck tail, LE spoiler, and rear valance but it's here and almost ready to start putting it back together.

Well she started right up after sitting still for longer than I want to admit. Beautiful day for it, 83 and sunny in Portland! She needs a tune up, but other than that she's ready to roll. Moving her to a new garage next week, looking forward to some summer fun!

The spare 914 in my back yard had not received any attention for well over 914 days.
Today I threw away the old top cover and tarp. stromberg.gif

Much to my delight, all 4 flat tires are holding air.
I cleaned up the accumulated leaves in the back corner, dusted off the car and took it for a spin around the block. driving.gif
Ok. bs.gif So I just sat in it, played with the controls and made vroom, vroom sounds.

The old base cover is now the top cover, with 2 new layers underneath.
It should be safe and secure for another 3 years. yellowsleep[1].gif

Installed 140 pound rear springs and did the initial install of 914Rubber's fiberglass bumper tops. Found out my front bumper is not straight and I need to find another, but the fg bumper top is great!
Mr.242
Replaced the rear bushing on the transmission/shift rod of the SIX. Wahoo....huge change on shifting. Old one was blown up to about 6 pieces.

Drove mine to work, then when I got home I decided to figure out why the fuel gauge doesn't work. (I've only had the car two weeks but this thing has been bugging me) Took the sending unit out and the float was stuck due to all the crud that had built up on the shaft. Also the ground wire was broken. I cleaned up the crud and soldered in a new ground wire and now I have a working fuel gauge!

It's been a while since I have posted any updates on my car

I forget where I left off, but the car is finally starting to go back together.

Front suspension is almost back together. New Koni sport yellow inserts, new ball joints, new bushings, repainted everything Koni Red. Raised spindle front struts, machined bumpsteer correction spacers, 911 turbo tie rods, BMW 320i caliper upgrade, slotted rotors, new pads, new bearings, 72mm wheel studs.

Installed new turbo tie rods, ball joints, Tangering Racing steering coupler, bumpsteer kit and even cleaned and painted the control arms in one weekend. Actually I did most of it on Sunday. For anyone weary of doing it, don't be. It can be done with some time and patience. And the right tools!
JStroud
Finally finished cleaning and painting the front end, got my powder coated control arms on with new elephant racing bushings, and new ball joints.
Drove it to Sonoma on Sunday, and let McMark do the rear bushings.
Wow, what a difference.....everyone with stock old bushings......Change them.
Can't believe the difference in the ride, bumps are bumps now, not body jarring mine fields. beer.gif

Also did some adjusting and finally got my idle right, now the new 2056 runs amazing... And idles well........life is good. driving.gif

Well, I ordered my new batteries just now, and am in the process of filling the hole above the pedals that I had to cut to make them fit.

If I could find RoadGlue, I'd post a pic of the progress. poke.gif
I'm having to redo the rear battery racks as well. sawzall-smiley.gif
Now I can fit 5X 12V modules into the ex-fuel tank area, where I could only fit 4 of the lead-acid gel batteries. So even with adding voltage (144V to 156V) I need less space around the motor and trans, even though the same number of 12V modules is going in. The lithiums ARE a little taller, but that's no problem. bye1.gif Click to view attachment

Stock 2.0 muffler on my 73 "The Black Eye" (4732913341) was blown, replaced it with a good used bursh muffler. Next on the list is reseal the rear window and replace speedo cable & fuel tank sender.

Replaced the ignition switch and door tumblers on my other 73 flip car (4732924554). Still need to do the head temp sensor, replace rear calipers and figure why the speedo doesn't work then it will be for sale.
