I received some more parts deliveries today smile.gif

Stopped into the shop for a few hours last night. I traded KaptKaos an old crusty set of really cool Dan Gurney wheels for a nice refurb'd IBM ThinkPad laptop running Linux - tried it out and it works great over there. Now I don't have to keep hauling my home laptop back and forth smile.gif ... thanks, Joe thumb3d.gif

Installed some Christmas lights on the lift santa_smiley.gif

laugh.gif

Did a little work on the '66 too. Unjammed the driver side door, and found out WHY it jammed shut dry.gif

Tucked my teener under a cover for the winter, it's been down in the 50s around here! Just kidding, I did put the car away until Jan '13 (next month).

Got a Srinker and Strecher from Eastwood to help with my dash paneles and they worked really well. Now they need no clamps to hold them in place, at one point it took 10.
Eddie914
Took it for a quick drive.

It still has the DOT-R track tires. It was scary on the damp 40 degree F. roads. With 1/4 throttle in 2nd gear the wheelspin was nasty! Just the thing to get the heart racing. smile.gif

The wife and I drove the white car to Capitola today to pick up a DD for the wife.
The new 2056 ran awesome there and back, now I'm wondering why it took me so long to get it in and going, this motor is awesome. driving.gif (if you want one...call McMark)

I got to drive my 75 out of the shop and into a parking stall ... and back in, later in the day biggrin.gif

Good thing too, the battery was getting low.

Joe (Sharp): I was also thinking that Joe (Kaos) might be able to help you with the camera/PC issue. He's an absolute wiz with that stuff, ya know.

i just wanted to start a thread to see what you guys do day to day on your cars.

i'll start,

about a month ago, i pulled my engine and trans to put in a new clutch. had the flywheel lightened and resurfaced. but what i didnt know is that i had to shim the little ball that the clutch arm rides on, after a resurfacing. so guess what i did today?

yup, pulled the trans and put an extra washer under the ball. you have to goop up both washers to get it to seal because the threaded hole goes all the way thru to the inside of the trans. i also replaced the plastic cup that the ball rides in. the throwout bearing and its little plastic blocks were fine so i buttoned every thing back up. 5 hours total. i think this has been the cheapest repair yet on my car. $2.75 for the little plastic cup.

what did you do to your 914 today?

Hello......in1976 I lighten my fly wheel.....I regrete since,,,,,still have car,,,,,low idle a plain to keep in traffic...... gary

Drove it to work for the 5th day straight!! piratenanner.gif driving.gif

Running great and getting 22-23 mpg on the streets of LA! Not bad for a 1911cc with head work (42x36 valves & ported intakes) , L-jet and a lead footed driver! happy11.gif
porschefile2010
Replaced yet another door lock cam! The black ones just don't seem to be up to the job.
Fitted the mirrors back on as well as the indicators and side lights. Now waiting on new rubber boots for the indicator wiring.
Getting there slowly.
Back on the road by end of summer hopefully.
JoeSharp
Working on the headlight brackets. One is done in the rough. Oh, and the new mirrors arrived today. They look KOOL...
Gint
You need a new camera Joe! You sold beauty?
JoeSharp
Yeah Mike, sold in 20 minutes for the asking price.
Camera is working fine, the PC stopped reading it.
Pat Garvey
Amazingly, the garage temp climbed to 58 degrees today (is this really mid-December?).
Got home from work and attempted to snake some wires through the new right side rubber for the side markers/turn signa. Like treading wires through sludge! Pisses ne off, because the left side was relatively easy, using glycerin. This one won't budge! Walked away until the rant was finished & worked on cleaning the seats. Yeah, that worked.
But the wiring boot still laughs at me.

This is about what I'm doing tomorrow. I am continuing the Audi conversion wiring. I got the Engine sorted last weekend. The steering column is almost ready to swap. Dash wiring and fabricating this weekend. If I have time, I'll get the pedals sorted as well.

Tried my hand at surface rust removal on the '72. I never should have left this car sit outside, but that's another story all to it's own dry.gif

Spent about an hour with a couple of small hand tools and some naval jelly to get this far blink.gif
