I received some more parts deliveries today
Stopped into the shop for a few hours last night. I traded KaptKaos an old crusty set of really cool Dan Gurney wheels for a nice refurb'd IBM ThinkPad laptop running Linux - tried it out and it works great over there. Now I don't have to keep hauling my home laptop back and forth
... thanks, Joe
Installed some Christmas lights on the lift
Did a little work on the '66 too. Unjammed the driver side door, and found out
WHY it jammed shut

Got a Srinker and Strecher from Eastwood to help with my dash paneles and they worked really well. Now they need no clamps to hold them in place, at one point it took 10.

Took it for a quick drive.
It still has the DOT-R track tires. It was scary on the damp 40 degree F. roads. With 1/4 throttle in 2nd gear the wheelspin was nasty! Just the thing to get the heart racing.

I gutted the inside only to find more rust than I thought I had and put together one center console that I had to put together from multiple consoles. The vinyle is missing, but will get her refurbished soon.

The wife and I drove the white car to Capitola today to pick up a DD for the wife.
The new 2056 ran awesome there and back, now I'm wondering why it took me so long to get it in and going, this motor is awesome.

Good thing too, the battery was getting low.

i just wanted to start a thread to see what you guys do day to day on your cars.
i'll start,
about a month ago, i pulled my engine and trans to put in a new clutch. had the flywheel lightened and resurfaced. but what i didnt know is that i had to shim the little ball that the clutch arm rides on, after a resurfacing. so guess what i did today?
yup, pulled the trans and put an extra washer under the ball. you have to goop up both washers to get it to seal because the threaded hole goes all the way thru to the inside of the trans. i also replaced the plastic cup that the ball rides in. the throwout bearing and its little plastic blocks were fine so i buttoned every thing back up. 5 hours total. i think this has been the cheapest repair yet on my car. $2.75 for the little plastic cup.
what did you do to your 914 today?
Hello......in1976 I lighten my fly wheel.....I regrete since,,,,,still have car,,,,,low idle a plain to keep in traffic...... gary

Drove it to work for the 5th day straight!!
Running great and getting 22-23 mpg on the streets of LA! Not bad for a 1911cc with head work (42x36 valves & ported intakes) , L-jet and a lead footed driver!

Replaced yet another door lock cam! The black ones just don't seem to be up to the job.
Fitted the mirrors back on as well as the indicators and side lights. Now waiting on new rubber boots for the indicator wiring.
Getting there slowly.
Back on the road by end of summer hopefully.

Amazingly, the garage temp climbed to 58 degrees today (is this really mid-December?).
Got home from work and attempted to snake some wires through the new right side rubber for the side markers/turn signa. Like treading wires through sludge! Pisses ne off, because the left side was relatively easy, using glycerin. This one won't budge! Walked away until the rant was finished & worked on cleaning the seats. Yeah, that worked.
But the wiring boot still laughs at me.
