I drove it 5 hours to Seattle. Last night i installed ingmans new fuse board upgrade. Man that was easy. So nice to not have to screw with those old crappy fuses. Now i just need to get another one for my v8 conversion..

I'll install my Engman fuse panel when I remove the driver seat to install a new pull handle. Glad to hear it's an easy job biggrin.gif

not much bling for all that work, but it is very clean now. cheer.gif

Looking great John. smilie_pokal.gif

I did some interior work...

First I had to modify the shift plate:
IPB Image

Then I tacked it in place because I wanted it under the carpet:
IPB Image

Then I started laying felt:
IPB Image

I like the look of the plate hidden under the felt:
IPB Image

I put the console and the heater lever on top of the felt:
IPB Image

Next, felt on the longs. Thanks Ferg for the last remaining heater hose:

GT rubber mats in place:

Setting contact adhesive boundaries while laying felt:

Basically done. Seats are in. I need to make a few mats for behind the seats and get the roll bar installed:

If the key we in the right place, I wouldn't turn it into a clone. So... I beg to differ. biggrin.gif

Hung my rear suspension, installed side and rear glass, ran a majority of my wiring harness, Seatbelt bar, odds and ends bolted on.
Front suspension pending tie rods and tightening.
Robert came by and installed the mega squirt harness and did final measures on othe engine electronics.
Next weekend final cradle for motor and final test fit before powder coating.

I drove it to work today too.

piratenanner.gif One week on the road after 5 years or so of off and on resto and not one leak or hitch! piratenanner.gif

For $12 and super easy clean up, this stuff did a respectable job cleaning the built up oil stains on my garage floor. first.gif

Had my little "shifter linkage bushing replacement adventure" Saturday, as documented over in this thread: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=187814

Working better than before, despite being kludged up. At least now I know what needs to be done, that it isn't fixing the other issue, and that I should focus on rebuilding/replacing the half shafts first anyway...

Stopped by Joe Sharp's on Sunday to repair his LM-1. One of his neighbors had this nifty 'FREE' workbench sitting at the curb.
I snagged it and hauled it to the house ... screwed some wheels to the bottom this morning smile.gif

Also, wire brushed and primed some pieces of 'angle iron' for the blast cabinet's dolly. Why do they call it iron?, it's steel confused24.gif

I bought a 5k# winch for the new trailer (love those 20%-off Harbor Freight coupons)

Also picked up some DupliColor® 500° semi-gloss paint for the '6' tin and a couple more cans of Rustoleum® 'Rust Reformer' flat black for the blast cabinet dolly, which I hope to complete tomorrow.

... and later that same evening: hot-tanked and blasted several more pieces of the '6' tin ... hoping to prime those remaining pieces tomorrow as well.

Put the front bumper back on, and cleaned up a stock horn pad with a bit of bling (a Porsche crest) & remounted the stock steering wheel. Oh, and went thru a bunch of stuff & put it in the classifieds. smile.gif

Talked to Kenny at Pelican on the phone, finding out how many shift linkage and original axle/CV parts are NLA. But did order some more shift linkage bushings, and some bits for the 968.

Stopped at Sears after work for more wrenches - the 6-point closed end type for the tougher rusted fasteners. And the 50% off set of bolt extractors, for when the new wrenches and loosening juice aren't enough... blink.gif

Their are easier ways to get a gas tank to a shop for servicing. biggrin.gif

After 3 years of not having working reverse lights, I found the needed motivation to fix it. (Backing out of a parking spot in between two SUV's, almost got nailed by a pickup going WAY too fast through a small parking lot.)

So, I finally have reverse lights working. Typical problem, worn down pin. two minutes on a lathe, and I'm good to go.

I got it to RUN! cheer.gif cheer.gif

After two years of working on my conversion, last night I threw oil in it, a gallon of gas, and a battery.....

IT FIRED UP ON THE SECOND CRANK!

It was loud (open headers) and nasty and awesome! cheer.gif

The gauges all worked (including the fuel pressure gauge at exactly 3.5 lbs). Carbs didn't spit at me (still need to dial them in however).

Had maybe a small puff of black smoke on it's initial firing. Had one small gas leak on the brass bolt/needle valve cover that took 10 seconds to fix. Other than that, it went surprisingly great. Very very pleased.

I was ready to sell the damn thing because it was just taking to long to get the thing done. My attitude has now been adjusted.

I will post the video tonight.

Now, I just need to get it to shift!

Not mine -my son's, but I'm always working on it. Got the engine, clutch, tranny, & starter assembled today.

Put new Koni adjustable shocks on the back of Betty's 914. The fronts are back ordered. Hopefully they will be here within the next week.

Adjusted the clutch, and worked on tracking down the cutting out issue we have. I think I have it this time.
