Got them at a car show. They are H4, I forgot to take the guy's card but he will be at another show in 2 weeks.

The bulbs it comes with looked cheap, I went to the auto parts and get some good brand with extended range.

The whole thing including new bulbs cost under $100.

Removed the old headlights from the wrecked 6. I knew they were flat glass, but due to the damage, I couldn't see a brand/logo.

Got them out, found out they are vintage flat glass SEV Marchall headlights! Installed them in the yellow car, and damn, now I can see at night! The pep boys Sylvania cheap lights always sucked..

JACKPOT! piratenanner.gif

The old Marchal "flat face" H4s are the best!

The Mrs. and I went to the shop to look for something we couldn't find at home ... didn't find it at the shop either, dagnabbit dry.gif

Moved the 'BB' out, moved the '67 Bug in.

Packed up some parts in the trunk of the 'BB', drove it home and ran a CA duster over it smile.gif

Hoping to stick Chris H.'s upgraded LED gauges in the dash (finally) and throw some 1/4" spacers behind the front wheels.

I picked up my rebuilt 2 liter motor. The next phase of the restoration is to put the motor and tranny in the car and then it is off to the painters to get the outside painted. The trunks, jams, and the ENGINE bay are all painted.

I am totally rushing as I just got out of the car after driving it around the block about 6 times. This area is an industrail site next to an airport so I was getting it on perty hard.

Pulled it out of the 914 barn, and going to post it. Owned since the 80's parked it when the ear failed about 1983 Always inside. All the interior will go to the project car, being in humid Michigan and stored inside the interior is in great shape. No cracks or splits in the interior trim, and yes a perfect dash cap. All just as I left it some 30 years ago. Anyone need a some what rusted shell? Amazing how easly it was to pull across the lawn, on its belly.

Sent my gauges off to Tim to have the custom guage lights done. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=213685.

Chatted with Tim and had finished my gauges fixed some other things and was wrapping things up! Truly a super quick turn. Should have them back and installed in less than a week. Can't wait to see how they look.

Swapped out my Kevlar clutch disc for a more conventional one for a smoother engagement. If anyone's interested in a 228-mm disc (V-8 conversion) that fits the 901 input shaft splines, check out the classifieds.

Here's a video of the tach with the 2200uF cap installed. The tach is much more damped and doesn't wildly overshoot like before.

You're welcome. The tach needs to be a newer 914 tach. The one from my 71 has a different circuit and adding the cap also disturbs the RPM value by about 1.3x to 1.5x. I bought a later model tach and put the guts in the case from the 71.

My 1st a 73' I bought in 77' was Signal Orange

My final #7 914, a 75' some what rare black is now SO...I always wanted a yellow 914, but my Z06 and 69' Camaro are yellow so SO is perfect for the new 914.

I love the track events I do with my Z06...driving 165 mph @ Road America; but I'm looking to the same level of fun driving the 914 when it's finished...does that make sense?

getting the same rush from driving the 914 on a twisty road versus blasting down the 4500' straights @ RA doing 165 mph, then braking to 45 mph to make the left hander?

To me...yes

I got my German electrical pin removal kit and pins and connectors. I need to replace some of the factory connectors due to loose and broken wires.

This is causing a random limp mode problem. VW sent out a tech report about this some time ago. Now I'm feeling the pain.

Should all be fixed and ready to drive before 9-14... piratenanner.gif

I fixed the radiator hose... Again! This time for good. Re filled the system and bled.

I pulled apart all the factory electrical connectors and soldered new pins.

I turned to boost down to 12psi. Seems like the sweet spot until I can get it tuned on the dyno.

I drove it for 30+ miles in 98° weather without any issues... piratenanner.gif Engine temps stayed around 180° all day.

Went to VW to get a boost/thrust sensor (MAP). they wanted $200 so I bought one online for less than half. I often get an "implausible signal" and go into limp mode. This is partially why the boost is turned down. My tuner needs to re-scale the sensor.

Limp mode sucks! The car go to idle, no throttle at all until I cycle the ignition.
