braved the unusual 90 degree warmth here in the PNW and dug into the distributor as it was the last thing keeping the LE off the road.
Success!! Off came the top & the took it out for the the first real over road shake down since I started the resto.

hey, if anyone else out there decides to hook up the passenger side after all the years of being capped, you'll probably get a surprise whisp-ing out of your defrosters for quite a while... and the smell isn't all that fresh!

Determined to gefigger the wacky idle, I removed the AFM, the schnorkel, and the throttle body. TPS ohmed out as it should. Noticed a little ridge inside where the plate closes, and a little bump on the edge of the brass plate. Smoothed that out with a little 600 and got everything cleaned up.
Then checked the AAR. Was closing, but not making a complete seal. Sprayed carb cleaner in there, some lube, and cycled it a bunch of times.....
Put everything back together.....no difference to speak of.
But she runs good otherwise

Those 5-lug ATS wheels look great. Are they 14"? What brand and size tires did you get? I have a set of 14s, not painted (yet) for a 912

Thanks! They're 15x7 (not sure of offset) and I had them refinished at a local wheel shop. I went the sticky-compound route for tires...Toyo Proxes RA1, 205/50-15 front, and 225/50-15 rear. The rears are going to be a little snug; rolled the fender lip and did a mild pull, but I may need another 1/4" to 1/2" to make it rub-free.

Just spend the better part of the afternoon "trying" to replace my Rear Sway Bar Drop Link Bushings! Finally got them replaced on the drop links! Damn that was a bitch! Boiled water too! Got one end of link on the sway bar bar with no problem. However, the end that connects to the shock and arm: No way! I even got a "big ass channel locks" from Home Depot and it was not big enough! I will take it to my mechanic next week and he will put it on in five minutes!
Drill little holes in them to allow any air to escape, heat them in water, grease and a C-clamp. Should do it.
Looks good.

Taking advantage of the heat, painting some -6 engine tin today (for an old 911, even though I

Not sure what "sulfated" means but check your warranty. Mine was 36 months 0 prorate. The guy at Advance Auto said Optima has changed the warranty over the past couple years.

The guy at Advance Auto said he has had his Optima for 9 years but he sees a lot of Optimas being brought in after a much shorter period of time. Another case of older product being superior to current offerings

Engine rotating assembly back from machinist for balancing.
Short block assembled. Ready to put on the pistons/cyls so I can measure deck height.
Then the heads go off to bugpatch for machining. then whole engine goes together....

I wanted to get a picture of it in the sun so I pulled it out of the driveway, but it is sort of suburbia hell. Every house looks the same, but I don't mind since rent is cheap and I have a two car attached garage!

Ross, is that original paint?
Looking at the house pix, reminded me of some lyrics in a song by the Kinks: Demolition ... "Then we'll build a row of identical boxes and sell them off at treble the profits"
Funny how the angle makes your garage appear wider than your neighbors' garages.
