Wow. That’s pretty bad. I have a spare set of 1.7 cylinders I’m not going to need. Let me know if you need them. Pistons, rings, and pins included.

Today I drove to Bruce Stone's shop in Riverside and purchased then picked up a replacement tranny (transmission.........) to use while I have my box (transmission....) refurbished.

The tranny (pictured) is a converted tail-box so we both believe that the innards are most likely upgraded or at least checked out while being converted to a side shift box.

Oh Yeah,... and I spent an hour in the glass bead box cleaning 40 years of grime off the box / if it is going in my 6, it is going to be clean and oil free........

If only I could fit my trans in the sandblaster that I have. I was planning to go after mine with small wire wheels. Open to other suggestions.

Took a couple of hurried photos (sorry for the wonkyness) of a nice -4 with a cool bike rack in rush hour traffic near work. 1st 914 I've seen on the road in about a year

Two weeks ago I gave my car a real workout. Chicago to Toronto to the Florida keys and back to Chicago. About 5K in 2 weeks. All in all everything went well. I picked up bad gas in Tennessee. Real bummer. I did get home OK but I had work to do. I installed a new fuel filter with a proper one and that seemed to fix that. I had a problem with the throttle body acting sticky. This was a real bummer in construction traffic. I rebuilt the throttle body and OMG what a difference. She runs like new. I readjusted the headlight to fit the hood better. I lost some chrome trim on the windshield and received a rock on the glass which caused a crack. Next project.

C&C north Scottsdale- got there a lot earlier than I needed to! Another 914 showed up- backdated'75 with 3.2 etc. Put a 911 dash in it- not my cup of tea, but done nicely in a rare green colour.

Went to Cars and Coffee and was one of two 914's / Steve was the other.

Then stopped by Keith914's 914 conversion in progress. He may be awarded the fastest conversion from a 4 to a 2.7 in the history of conversions. From acquisition of the motor, then the carbs, then the headers, then,....well you get the idea........... Nice build underway and maybe tomorrow is startup. Unbelievable what he can get done in a few weeks.

I took my original paint 76 to Leamon to get the smog and turn single relay wiring sorted out.

AAA tow was $280. After my free hook up and 6 miles. I guess I should pay for their 200-mile tow package for $49. More. I have to be a member as I have them for car
(Not Porsche), house, earthquake Ins.

Only a couple spots could I feel the taller sidewall. But all in all really pretty nice. Thanks.
Next time I'll run the really twistys on the back way from/to Newberg. Lots of 90 degree farm corners.

These tires and wheels were going to go on Doug's car, but he went another direction.
My gain. I've always wanted a set of Mini Lights.

Hey Marty ... yes, and they need some TLC too. Got them from a roller that Garold acquired several years ago.

I should have bead-blasted them before mounting tires on them - the paint on them is from a PO, and flaking badly headbang.gif

I had to have one of them straightened. Went to two shops in the LAX South Bay area, but both said they couldn't do it.

Found a shop in Santa Ana that did a great job, although a bit more expensive than I was expecting. Still happy with the results.

Adjusted the valves on my 2.0L. Was having problems with backfiring and once I adjusted the valves it went away. Intake = .006 and Exhaust = .008

All 4 cylinder exhaust valves were to tight and #1 cylinder intake needed adjustment.

We fired up Keith914's 2.7 monster motor today.

Oil pressure good.

Revs at 2K good.

No weird mechanical sounds upon initial fire up. Advance retarded and corrected.

And the obligatory few oil leaks to chase down will happen tomorrow.

All in all, a great day for Keith's hard work and diligence in a conversion to a 911 motor verses a VW 4 motor.

The sound of that motor was beefy and parallel to my 3.0 bone stock muffler on MSDS headers...... but different.

His motor has ported heads and breaths all the right ways... Sounded GREAT!!!

Tomorrow: Lets see..............

I'm thinking on Saturday, we will add one more 914 to the San Clemente parking deck...................... EDDY?
